PJ, the Empyrean Colonist
Rick and Tinsel meet up with PJ, an alien employee who worked for the Galaxy Cab who seemed to be down on his luck after he found out his home world, the Empyrean Colony, was destroyed as well as no longer being employed. They attempt to rebuild his life and hopefully enroll him in another F-Zero Grand Prix in the future.
It was during a balmy summer in 2576, as Rick and Tinsel were walking back to his Dragon Bird...which was being cleaned and having its windshield streaked by a mysterious alien. Apparently, he was down on his luck and needed some moolah, though they only had debit cards on them! Looking at his poor, raggedy getup, Tinsel and Rick decided to bring him into the Falcon House for a bite.
He went by the name of PJ, although his real name'd be difficult to pronounce by humans. He came from the Empyrean Colony which was a housing project for the growing interstellar population; it was halted at times when Dark Million was around, but it was a relief for the inhabitants without any intrusion and tourism. Unfortunately, since he demanded for more wages and a bigger cab, the Galaxy Cab terminated him, and half of the metropolis was obliterated by a train which had a timed bomb and robo-terrorists inside!
Rick and Tinsel volunteered to take in PJ into her former flat, although he found out the alien constantly gets in trouble for speeding, so he'd keep a keen eye on him, unless if he should challenge him to a race! PJ was hoping to enroll himself in another competition since he was unable to; Clank and Alias are starting a new school year in an academy run by Prof. Yazoo! There were 2 advanced-learning colleges in Mute and Bianca City, though the kids were lucky to still pick the closest to them.
Trivia[]
- This is a oneshot in which Ikran introduces one of the unlockable pilots in GX, PJ; it can be unlocked by beating Story Mode's Final Lap on Very Hard.
- As a podfic, this was Ikran's first!
- The sequence in which the Empyrean Colony was destroyed was based on one from Sucker Punch; in which Babydoll fantasizes Rocket sacrificing herself as the train explodes in a major city armed with robo-terrorists.
- The Empyrean Colony is one of few of Ikran's favorite venues in her least-favorite game in the series, Maximum Velocity. This was her first attempt to branch out to that said game. Even when she introduced some characters there as Clank and Alias enlist in a Mute City academy.
- On a whim, Ikran thought that PJ may have a similar look to the Empyrean Colony itself, hence perhaps an inhabitant from there.
