Professor Samuel Oak (オーキド・ユキナリ, Ōkido Yukinari Hakase, lit. "Dr. Yukinari Orchid") is a character appearing in Pokémon the Series. He is a Pokémon professor and researcher who was once a competitive Trainer and is generally considered to be the best in his field of research.
He also hosts post-episode lectures that are exclusive to the original Japanese version, five in total: Pokémon Lecture, Great Pokémon Encyclopedia, Great Pokémon Examination, Pokémon Xtransceiver, and Pokémon Holo Caster.
