Punch Time Explosion is a upcoming animated film from 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Studio. It's a crossover of Cartoon Network and Bandai's Compati Hero that will be directed by Carlos Saldanha and Japanese anime director Masaaki Yuasa who also wrote the story along with Don Rhymer and Shōji Yonemura. Release Date is expected in April 2011.


Plot

Blu is a rare species of blue macaw resident at a bookstore in Moose Lake, Minnesota, who is the last of his kind. When scientists learn that another macaw was spotted in South America and that the macaw, Jewel is female, they take him out of Minnesota and send him to Rio de Janeiro to meet her. While there, they get kidnapped by poachers to sell them to get a fortune to Ultraman Belial, who plans to use their bloods to awaken Dark Brain as he means the DNA samples of all life of the real world. After the birds escape, all heroes of the Cartoon Network and Compati Hero universes must team up to defeat Belial and his evil army of past villains.

Background

Under development for years, the film is considered "Brazilian-born Saldanha's dream project" and will be more darker than his comedic Ice Age movies.

The Japanese trailer appeared on showings of How to Train Your Dragon. The teaser have clips of different Cartoon Network and Compati Hero shows and movies before showing Decade in a field transforming into a different form that is not showed.

The American trailer of the film was released online on May 20, 2010 and premiered in Shrek Forever After, showing a clip of Belial wearing a crown narrating how the world will see what he can do as his eyes grows red.

The new trailer was released online on December 8, 2010 and was also shown with Tangled and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The trailer shows more characters, and more info on the story, such as showing Belial's plan and Blu meeting Jewel.
