Reactor Mights are mysterious particles found in space that was said that six were formed during the birth of the universe, three Light, three Dark. They possess power that exceeds any lifeform possessing them, and they can also be housed inside F-Zero machines, causing them to have extensive speed and power. They're so rare, that they cannot be easily found with advanced technology.
Role in the anime[]
Black Shadow and Captain Falcon were the only racers that know of the Reactor Mights' prowess prior to the events of the anime. The Emperor of Brutality was first shown to use one possessing darkness upon Zoda's awakening from cold sleep 150 years ago. Although he woke up five years before Rick, he was then transformed upon contact of a Reactor Might.
From there, Capt. Falcon went to Dr. Stewart and Jody Summer personally and revealed of how the Reactor Mights came from and how they're being harnessed. He said in the 23rd century, chaos would be unleashed the universe over, and he counted on them to house a Reactor Might of Light inside the experimental Dragon Bird invented by Dr. Clash. Eventually, Rick was awakened, and since he has a connection with Zoda, he was chosen to handle its hidden potential.
During Rick's training with Falcon, it was discovered the Blue Falcon also had a Light Reactor Might. It was also when he discovered of the secret technique known as the Booster Fire, a rapidly spinning ability that enables an F-Zero machine to have immense power and speed; however, because of the extra input it produces it can only be used once per race, otherwise the vehicle would lose control and balance.
Three Dark Reactor Mights were found in three sources, a secret lair eventually located by Blood Falcon and Capt. Falcon before the latter's disappearance, Zoda turning him into Hyper Zoda, and the Black Bull. It was also known that they can cause a victim to hallucinate, and sometimes retain lost memories; like when Miss Killer recalled herself as Haruka Misaki, or Rick suffering from exposure by Hyper Zoda. They, too, can erase a victims' memories utilizing a stasis tube and submission, hence it was how Haruka became brainwashed after cold sleep, reducing her to being born to Black Shadow. Rick had a close call before he ignited and escaped from it after his friends gave him indirect support. Haruka then found out about Black Shadow's dream using the code, REACTORMIGHT, on an encrypted hatch.
Rick was destined as the savior of the galaxy, collecting all six Reactor Mights. His Dragon Bird was upgraded to the Dragon Bird EX that could house two Mights, much as the Black Bull during a lethal race. A Reactor, as well as the Core, were created to hone the power of all Mights, as a way for Black Shadow to incinerate and enslave the universe within an instant. Though his dream was thwarted after Rick utilized a Reactor Might to its full power, as well as Falcon's sacrifice.
Rick's and Falcon's use of a Reactor Might is known as the Boost Fire.
Zoda becomes Hyper Zoda, and his machine transforms from the Death Anchor to the Hyper Death Anchor, and his attack is the Death Fire.
Black Shadow's version is the Black Fire.
Role in F-Zero Climax[]
After the first lap of a race is complete, the player can use a Reactor Might to perform a Booster Fire. The machine can save them during a race or use one at a time within each lap finished before the race is done. It can be used when the player taps the booster button twice, if the player uses the spin attack before boosting, it causes it to perform a rapid spin attack and a great increase in speed for a brief period of time. It's likely a machine may get destroyed within the vicinity of one. Each machine surrounds itself with a different hue; for example, the Dragon Bird is white, the Black Bull is a dark violet, Blood Hawk is red, etc.
Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
Over 6 million years ago, the Milky Way Galaxy was created, and at the start of the Big Bang came 6 celestial bodies, 3 of Dark, 3 of Light. The Creators, 3 phantasms, had kept the universe in check, even when creating the embodiments of the Yin, Yang and Wuji (Bull, Falcon, and Dragon; Black, White, Gray). They're bursts of intense energy scattered throughout the universe, and anyone who attains them will have immense power! They're too obscure to be found by advanced technology, but the Light Reactor Mights had been found and kept by the Federation from evil hands. One of them was caught between Yin and Yang and was split in 2, after the two halves of the Belt became one, Falcon obtained one of the Reactor Mights.
Upon Black Shadow's resurrection he alerted Jody and Dr. Stewart and gave the schematics of the Dragon Bird to Dr. Clash. It housed another Reactor Might, which made it unstable and difficult to control, even when using the Booster Fire technique; eventually, a gifted pilot from the past had mastered it, Rick Wheeler, under Falcon's tutelage, and he warned Dark Million has grown more powerful since finding the 3 Dark Mights and are able to use them! The last was found inside Clash's prototype, the Silver Comet! There were even liquid solutions brainwashing the Task Force, or restoring normal brain functions using their polar opposites; Black Shadow, then Dr. Stewart created these, although they were experimental as Tinsel experienced both sides. Even nearly convincing Rick to return to evil's clutches.
By destroying the galaxy, and capturing Tinsel, Deathborn built the Reactor Core housing the Mights' energies, even feeding on others. Dr. Stewart reiterated the Legend of the Falcon, and the savior must turn the tables, the Wuji since the Yin and Yang can't destroy themselves. Rick was chosen, and he achieved his destiny after he used his Full Power Boost Fire after Falcon disabled the Core, obliterating all evil, including the bounty hunter. All 3 Light Mights were kept, though the Dark Mights scattered as they did before. The Blue Falcon, Dragon Bird, Silver Comet, Dragon Bird EX, Blood Hawk, Moon Shadow, and Black Bull/Death Schneider uses them! Rick and Tinsel have a combined technique known as Fire and Ice, and Falcon once advised to use their hearts to activate them!
They can function as those giving them power or draining it; Rick uses his thermal healing abilities, while Black Shadow uses them for mind control or resurrection, while Stewart made portions from them for restorative purposes. They even give Rick immense power, even overcoming a biological weapon, but if drawn too much can use up his, or a machine's, strength. Three Light Mights are currently housed in the Silver Comet, Blue Falcon GT, and Dragon Bird EX (which can hold 2 like the Black Bull/Dark Schneider).
After meeting up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Rick and Tinsel can relate to them as 6 Infinity Stones existed when the universe was created by the Eternals/Celestials and soon possessed by the Elders of the Universe; their essences were soon condensed into Stones each with their own powerful traits and spread out within the Cosmos. Especially when they were reunited and used by Thanos to erase half of all lifeforms within an instant! He then destroyed all of them, so his plans won't be undone, until the Avengers, and only Rocket, travelled to the past to collect alternate Infinity Stones and defeat the 2 forms of Thanos! This resulted Iron Man sacrificing himself using all of them at their fullest, and Capt. America hid them away. Luckily Gamora was eventually found as the Soul Stone shattered in a black hole, taking her, and soon the Guardians, to the 26th century.
