The Red Dragon are a crime syndicate present within Earthrealm in the Mortal Kombat series. Caro, guardian of clan founder Daegon, is a red dragon, which is where the name originated from.
The Red Dragon clan had existed in secret for centuries and was first created by the half god Daegon after his early awakening by his Dragon guardian Caro. Quickly forming a group of Human followers led by the warrior Mavado, the clan became a highly skilled and disciplined group of warriors. However, many of the more reckless members became dissatisfied with the restraints they were forced to suffer as well as the code of the Red Dragon placed on them. Thus, this group broke away to form their own clan known as the Black Dragon. The parent clan's number one priority since that day, outside of Daegon's objectives, was to eradicate the infidel group.

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
In a flashback, Sonya came to the realization the organization still exists, from Stryker's clue on Hsu Hao possessing a bloody engraving on his arm. Apparently, the disbanded Black Dragons broke away from the Red Dragons due to their strict codes of conduct. Hsu Hao only allied with the Special Forces because he wanted his rivals exterminated. He soon left the benevolent soldiers for some time, only to betray Sonya and Johnny! It's most likely they're working for the Deadly Alliance.
Final Kombat[]
The Red Dragons slaughtered every denizen within the village beside Argus' temple, as well as the pyramid itself. It was thanks to Taven who wiped out some of their numbers.
It was soon stated by the Lin Kuei, and even Bi-Han, that the Red Dragons must've been sent to kill Taven, and their base during their uprising was originally in Charred Mountain.
Taven headed there en route thru the Krimson Forest where a few waves of more dedicated agents greeted him. As Taven was fighting them off, Fujin found him and was about to prevent him from progressing further, until he was suddenly frozen in place. Taven still headed toward their HQ where he met up with more swarms and soon his lost brother, Daegon! Much to his astonishment, he grew so much older than Taven, due to him being awakened earlier than Taven and foretaking the quest prematurely. He then organized the terroristic group, with his guardian dragon, Caro, as its mascot and transporter by conjuring portals0 through all the realms! Much to Taven's bewilderment, Daegon sent his own organization to kill him, so that he can defeat Blaze and attain the prize himself, the same one Rain desired! He commandeered Mavado to kill Taven in which he was defeated. All a sudden, the lair was attacked, scattering all the agents, even those halted by the Black Dragons who somehow received word of their location! Almost everyone perished excepting for Taven, Daegon, Mavado, Hsu Hao, Quan Chi, Reptile, and even Caro!
The remaining Red Dragons prepared for the Battle of Armageddon, and Daegon was soon slain by Taven in the Edenian Ruins, while Hsu Hao opened fire onto the Special Forces during the fierce melee then be perished by the firestorm. The mascot, Caro, still remained safe at the Yin Yang Island and eventually decided to join the elder Liu Kang and Kitana as they protect their rewritten history.
