The Red Dragon Crime Syndicate was a structured crime organization based in a skyscraper in Tharsis on Mars.

The syndicate was led in the 21st century by a group called The Van or the Elders: Wang Long, Sou Long and Ping Long. The organization had several exploits, including the Red Eye trade, and employed hundreds of armed guards and soldiers. Mao Yenrai served as a captain or Capo to the Elders and was a mentor to both Vicious and Spike. Other members included Lin and Shin. Julia was closely associated with the organization.

As with other syndicates, one of the Red Dragon's rules was that none of their members could leave the organization except through death. This included voluntary resignation and a failure to complete crucial tasks. This resulted in ruthless behavior.

History[]

In the late 2060s, Spike decided to leave the syndicate and faked his death, becoming a bounty hunter. He planned to take Julia with him, but, instead, she went into hiding. Vicious, however, had great ambitions in the syndicate.

From 2065 onward, the syndicate was in major conflict with the White Tiger Crime Syndicate.

In 2071, the syndicate's leaders decided to sign a truce with the White Tiger. One of their capos, Carlos, signed a truce with Mao, however, Vicious, in opposition to the truce, killed both Carlos and Mao along with their guards. His role in the incident was not explicitly known to the Van, though they suspected it.

Later in 2071, the syndicate suffered a large transition as Vicious made his move. Vicious initiated an attack on the Van and its guards, however, they were prepared and, instead, Vicious was captured. The Van also sent groups to kill anyone connected to Vicious and succeeded with Julia. Just before executing Vicious, however, his men killed the Van's guards, freed Vicious, and allowed him to kill the Van personally. Vicious then declared himself the leader of the syndicate.

Soon, however, Spike came back to the syndicate in a strategic attack that killed many syndicate men. With help from Shin, he made it to Vicious at the top of the syndicate's headquarters and they dueled. With several remaining guards watching, the two fought. Vicious was killed while it remains unknown if Spike was killed in this encounter or not.

Background[]

Not too much is known about the crime syndicate. It is an East Asian Triad and Yakuza-inspired organization. The Van are usually seen wearing imperial Manchurian-Chinese clothing of the Qing Dynasty. The Syndicate specializes mostly in assassinations but are also involved in the trafficking of narcotics.

Annie (or perhaps her husband) could have been a member of the Syndicate – it is not stated explicitly. Julia's membership was also not clearly stated, and she seemed to be an affiliate instead of an official member.

Mao is most likely the one who brought Spike and Vicious into the Syndicate (since entering into a major criminal organization usually requires sponsorship from a higher-ranked member).

Recessional of the Red Dragons[]

With the remaining Red Dragons witnessing the descent and then the death of Spike Spiegel after he killed Vicious, the foot soldiers took his lifeless body away while Trudy became distraught. They relocated him to a mysterious stronghold and obeyed to begin his resurrection. Their new master orchestrated his awakening as he applied a syringe filled with Vicious' poisonous blood while the distant ritualistic drums were beaten. As the solution was inserted, Spike's body took some jolts before it became limp and reanimated his corpse.

After the lethal fight when Spike injured Faye and Trudy at the wrecked Tharsis base, declaring that the Red Dragons shall declare war within 72 hours, and if they dare to return to Mars or stop the Red Dragons, he'll make sure they'll meet their deaths. The elusive Oriental congratulated Spike on his victory and he sneered at last it was time to wreak havoc across Mars and soon the universe!

Jet and Trudy met up with Laughing Bull who foresaw the calamity involving the upcoming war and destruction of the universe, even Spike's permanent mental state; as Vicious' blood influenced him and he knew the new head of the neo-terrorists, Kim Yokushimo. He went into hiding and living like a vagabond as he left the syndicate, and soon Kim disappeared who was once a member of the Van. Jet grew impatient as how he knew, and the Red Dragons used his dark methods, even the same lotus position. All the practices, including the resurrection, was from him. After that, Spike soon destroyed the Bebop until the Space Shuttle interfered his wrath! The Earth Reploid, Zero, proved to be a formidable opponent, while another Reploid, X, helped the hostages escape! Faye, Jet and Trudy managed as their home was in space dust. With the damaged vessel, Spike spared them for the moment, impressed by Zero's skills in combat.

When time ran out, the Special Forces arrived at Mars thru the dark gates. The war was raging thru Valles Marineris; according to Radical Edward, she traced the Red Dragons' location to the middle of Olympus Mons. Donnelly warned Jet they're heading toward the city of Tharsis and the ISSP were being overwhelmed!

Jet gave chase after a sneaky sniper which turned out to be Spike to a graveyard! He was about to corner him until Trudy gave him Julia's missing music box playing her song... It soothed Spike, but a sniper forced him to shoot Jet, although Spike was the one shot instead! Jet shot the sniper moments later.

Thanks to logistics, Victoria provided the Special Forces with supplies and reinforcements, specifically the Reploids. They applied Red Eye to enhance their senses, but the heroes countered with their Pokémon's Mega Evolutions, even the Reploids' skills. They soon cleared the way, but the battle wasn't over.

The infantry was wiped out, but the warriors up Olympus Mons had heavier artillery! At times, they clobbered the Special Forces, until Zero and Zoroark (disguised as an agent) saved Julia's corpse. But they were ambushed by a few cohorts. It wasn't until the sudden arrival of Reshiram and Zekrom who were summoned by Beth and Lizzie's Stones, which caused an avalanche melting the mountain! The syndicate was caught off guard on all sides, although the heroes escaped courtesy of Victoria's truck, even upon her sudden death and the dragons' sacrifices... News got out the Red Dragons surrendered as Kim was shot by Appledelhi! Since then, the Red Dragons seemed to have faded from existence, although the Blue Opals and the White Tigers still remained.
