X5Reploids

Reploids, known as Repliroids (レプリロイド Repuriroido, a portmanteau of the words replica and android) in Japan, is a race of sapient robots with complete free will and thought processes comparable to those of humans. Reploids are central to the Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, and Mega Man ZX series.

Unlike mere robots or Mechaniloids, whose artificial intelligence is necessarily bound by their programming, Reploids can be thought of as the next evolutionary step of the Robot Masters from the classic Mega Man series. For all intents and purposes, Reploids are the same as humans on a mental level; they think and feel, giving them the ability to make their own decisions and develop unique personalities. This is their most consistently defining trait. Because of this, X and Zero are also considered Reploids for their humanoid sapience, despite being built many years before the term was coined.

As the term Reploid is also used for some animal-based robots, such as Velguarder, Wolfloid, and Iworm, it is unknown if they too have a human level AI or instead have an AI that replicates the animal they are based on. Similarly, in the Mega Man ZX series, the dogs Canis and Bosch have the same red triangle on the forehead as Reploids, indicating that they may also be Reploids.

Recessional of the Red Dragons[]

After the death of Sigma during the Repliforce Wars, the Reploids were put in charge in defending the Earth from oncoming meteor showers resilting from the debris of the Moon and the decimated Warp Gate. They were still stationed in Abel City, Japan and were still led by the Maverick Hunters primarily X and Zero. They apparently knew Radical Edward because of her hacking shenanigans, as well as her guardians whom they assisted on repairing the world from meteorites. Ever since they'd heard of another war, only this time on Mars, they participated to assist X, Zero, and the Special Forces as well as the ISSP against the gathering neo-Red Dragons. They helped them well, even provided logistics from truckers and fought some dealers off, even when escaping onto the Heavy Metal Queen, causing massive weight, from the avalanche in Olympus Mons! The result had the truck damaged as well as Victoria, and Reshiram and Zekrom sacrificed themselves to restore power before being buried. The heroes won the war as the neo-Red Dragons surrendered, and all except Zero returned to Earth.
