Ridley also known by his aliases Geoform 187 and The Cunning God of Death, is a fictional character and one of the main antagonists of the Metroid series. A draconic extraterrestrial hailing from the Planet Zebes, he became Samus Aran's archenemy after leading a Space Pirate raid on her home world that killed her parents. Though having been destroyed numerous times by Samus Aran, he is always resurrected, due in equal part to Space Pirate engineering and his natural regenerative ability, which allows him to swiftly recover from what would otherwise be fatal wounds as long as he is able to consume enough biomatter from his fallen adversaries.
Originally appearing as a subordinate of Mother Brain (another primary antagonist), he returns in Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in his cybernetic Meta Ridley form, commanding the Space Pirates himself. He is fully sentient, and he can also speak in the Metroid e-manga.
He is named after Ridley Scott, director of the 1979 film Alien, which has been described by character designer Yoshio Sakamoto as a "huge influence" on the world of the Metroid series.

The ReBoot Multiuniverse[]
Ridley has played a minor role, only when Samus was involved in her mission chasing after the baby Metroid (last of its kind), which was stolen by him after he attacked the Ceres space colony. Samus still had Bob and most of Akari's Pokémon on tow. And they had to overcome many obstacles before they had their rematch at Lower Norfair. Within his hideout, he was an absolute aggressive beast as Samus and Bob used their comrades to overthrow the dragon! The baby Metroid has already broke free, though, and more friendlier Web Riders we freed afterwards.
Ridley was actually the nickname given to Akari's Aerodactyl.
Trivia[]
- While most people would consider Meta Ridley, Ridley's rematch in Super Metroid may be chosen as one of Ikran's favorite normal bosses. Ridley has actually made it as one of Ikran's favorite video game villains as 10/12.
