Rosa Joanna Farrell is a playable character in Final Fantasy IV and its sequel, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. She hails from Baron, and is a skilled Archer and White Mage. Rosa is Cecil Harvey and Kain Highwind's childhood friend, and harbors romantic feelings for the former. Though Cecil is reluctant to let her follow him into danger at first, she stays by his side. Rosa is the first love interest in the series and the first female White Mage.
In the English localization of the 3D version, Rosa is pronounced [ˈɹoʊ.zə].
Rosa was first seen at the Baron Castle throne room as she and Cecil completed a session. She asked him what day it was, and it was then he'd forgotten it was his 21st birthday! She took out a silvery Moon pendant for her husband, and he wore it throughout the story! Cid barged in and invited Cecil to a prestigious pub in Troia, while Rosa decided to stay and train the other White Mages. She hardly noticed Cecil drunk, only asleep in their bedchamber before she had some shuteye, only to be informed by Cid he had one too many during his birthday bash.
A day later, she began to discuss to Cecil of their future arrangements as Lord and Lady, or rather as mom and dad! It seemed early, but once they can settle with their new obligations, they can bare a kid and carry on their budding legacy. He accepted and decided to visit the Mysidia Elder for their blessings/prayers, until Cecil spotted some mysterious aboriginals, with a girl tied up in a canoe. The Enterprise followed them to a distant cave and followed the men, then fought them diligently with Rosa as the healer. The captor slipped off the precipice by the time the battle was over, and Cecil rescued her. She introduced herself as Dragon Rose and shown them her camp at Tenebre. Rosa wasn't too thrilled of the Injukhal's greetings, unlike Chief Abdullah who admired both her and Cecil most of all. As the ceremony began, she sensed an immense power coming from the drums, and Cecil began to slip away from her when he was infatuated with them and Dragon Rose. Rosa was still being bullied by more Injukhal, even was forced to make firewood twice!! She hollered at the second time, and fled to the woods beyond, where she sobbed as Cecil became unfaithful. She encountered Dameon, a Dark Knight abandoned by the late King. She sympathized with him as he did with her. So, they headed back to Baron via Enterprise.
Eventually, while Rosa was showing all the changes made to the kingdom, Cecil returned and confronted her and Dameon! She broke off the fight before it'll get too tense, then she reluctantly accepted Dameon over Cecil because of his sudden treachery. She later remorsed, but Cecil still left. She eventually woke up noticing Cecil was gone, and she frantically searched for Odin for his counsel. She soon headed to Mist where Cecil grieved for his lost family and assured him, she'll forgive him as long as he's faithful. He promised to make amends, but he needed to head to Fabul first.
She returned to Baron, only to have Dameon watch her from the shadows, noticing her heart for Cecil instead of him! She was brutally mangled as Dameon threatened to put an end to him and make him serve the Injukhal indefinitely! Biggs and Wedge noticed the commotion and they're confident that she and Cecil can rid the Dark Knight if they find him!
Cecil was informed by Cid she headed to the darkest depths, in other words the Underworld. And King Giott informed him she headed to the Sylph Cave. She was entranced by Domin, having an exotic getup by Dameon's darkness after finding a Dark Crystal. She casted Float, and guided Cecil to a hidden thicket where she was held hostage by Dameon after knocking Cecil out! The Paladin wished to surrender, but he fought with him violently, till he aimed his Deathbringer onto her! Cecil shielded her from the onslaught and lost his vitality. Rosa teleported him to a distant location and assured that he shalln't die as long as she's with him! So she casted Arise restoring his vitality and returning to the light! As Dameon was hanging by Cecil trying to pull him down, she casted Holy, making the knights separate and have Dameon plunge to the magma below! She then pulled Cecil up, and she was astonished he never lost faith as he never took off her birthday present!
Rosa then offered Cecil to go to the distant izba, where the Sylphs lived, and they were nice enough for them to have it for themselves and get intimate. She noticed Cecil wake up from his night terror, on the Injukhal invading other parts of the world. She stated he should never get involved in the isolated incident with Domin in power, and to never have their heir be exposed to war. Cecil reluctantly kept his promise.
In the 2nd part, Rosa was at her third trimester, even when she tried to assure Cecil that his night terrors of her pregnancy would be a good sign for an easier delivery. Unfortunately, Rosa succumbed to a severe illness, making her comatose and weak! Cecil's only hope was to find the rare Glamour Greens to restore her vitality and deliver the child! Rosa was implied she assisted Cecil and Kain against Deimos once his augment was activated, Rosa's Love. She was able to gift Cecil more magical energy and to cast more powerful spells he never could before! Even Holy in which she and Cecil dual casted while Kain distracted Deimos long enough! This weakened Domin and reverted him, even restored vitality to the once dead Greens and only been inflicted by his evil.
She eventually recovered thanks to an Injukhal shaman grinding the Greens with Sheila's tea, and she was able to complete the delivery, thus giving birth to their son, Ceodore!
Rosa with Cid and Ceodore reunited with Cecil and Kain as they finally returned from Dissidia! She was so ecstatic to see her two best friends after several months!
