Rosie's "Date" Planner is the fifth episode of "Sodor High School: Thomas and Friends Tales".

Synopsis

Acting on advice from James, Rosie attempts to spend time alone with Thomas.

Plot

It didn't take too long for everyone to find out what Thomas and Emily did for Hiro. They were cheered on by all the other students, and were told that they had done a good deed. Spencer, on the other hand, received nothing but angry stares whenever he passed by, now wishing they wouldn't pay attention to him.

At around lunchtime, Thomas and Emily met up with Skarloey and Rheneas in the cafetaria.

"We're really sorry about breaking the cart," said Emily. "But you see..."

"No need to explain," said Skarloey, "we heard about what guys did for Mr. Hiro, so we know that our hard work didn't go to waste."

"If you want though, we can fix it up, then you can give it to Mr Hiro and his family as a gift," added Rheneas.

"That sure would make them happy," said Thomas. Emily nodded in agreement.

"Alright then, we'll come by your place tomorrow night to get started," said Skarloey, "we're going to be busy tonight with some homework assignments, so we won't have time."

"There's something I've been wanting to know," cut in Emily, "and I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you two brothers?"

"We're not in the same family," answered Rheneas, "but we grew up together like brothers, and we often hang out like brothers, so in a way we're like real brothers."

Skarloey nodded in response to that. He then looked up to the clock, "Speaking of assignments, we better get started."

"Right, well we'll see you two later." And with that, the two brothers left for the library.

No sooner were they out of sight, then Rosie came up and sat down at the same table with Thomas and Emily, "I heard what you two did for Mr. Hiro, that was nice of you to do all that."

"We would do that for any friend," smiled Emily.

"Still there wouldn't have been a problem if that Spencer had kept his nose out of our business. By the way, where is the silver show-off? I haven't seen him since this morning."

Rosie giggled and looked to the serving area, "take a look over there."

Thomas and Emily looked, they could see Spencer serving food to the other students. They were trying hard not to laugh at him, others though didn't even bother to try.

"Here's your stupid fries," he sniffed crossly.

"You know, you can say it with a smile on your face," chuckled Hank the American student.

Spencer said nothing more, he just went back to cooking food. Hank payed for his lunch and walked over to Thomas' table.

"Hey little buddy, I've heard what you have been doing, good stuff there!"

"Thanks Hank, but I didn't do it alone, I had help from my friends, Skarloey, Rheneas, Percy and Emily."

"Seems to me that you're always getting into some crazy advenutures every day, and now you have two girlfriends. You're one lucky son of a gun if you ask me."

"Girlfriends?" Thomas' cheeks started to turn red as he blushed, "uh, they're just friends, Hank. I mean yes, they are girls, and they are my friends, but that's all."

"Are you sure buddy?" Hank asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes I'm sure."

Hank rolled his eyes and chuckled, "whatever you say. Anyhow, I better eat my fries and get out of here quickly. I have serious studying to do."

"What class are you in?" asked Rosie curiously.

"I'm in a computer course that allows you to study up on how to make animation films, something I've always wanted to do since I was a little kid back in the states."

"Well I wish you good luck then," smiled Emily.

Hank thanked her, then he set off for a nearby table to eat at.

"Well we should probably head off for our class too," said Thomas, "otherwise we're going to be late."

Emily happily agreed with him and they left, while Rosie stayed at her spot and sighed unhappily to herself as she ate her lunch.

After a long day, the students were looking forward to going home. James was about to get up and head out, when suddenly he tripped over the legs of his chair and fell flat on his face.

"Ow," he groaned.

Emily could see this, she ran over to James to see if he was alright.

"I'm okay," he groaned, "I guess I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing."

"You hardly do," chuckled Gordon as he walked out of the room. James stared angerily at his blue haired friend.

"Are you sure you're okay?" asked Emily kindly, "do you need to go to the nurse's office?"

"No need for that, I'm alright," he said, "I'm not badly hurt."

Emily got to her feet, then she offered a kind hand to James. James grabbed it softly and she helped him back to his feet.

"Thank you," he smiled.

"You're welcome," smiled Emily, "well I need to go, I need to find Thomas and Percy. I'll see you later James."

She waved happily and walked out of the classroom, James just stood there for a minute while blushing bright red.

"What a sweet girl," he whispered softly, then he looked to the clock, "oh botheration, I'm going to miss the bus!"

He made a mad dash out of the classroom and nearly ran into BoCo, one of Edward's friends, "watch where you're going James!" he called out. "At the speed you're going, you're bound to trip and get hurt!"

"Don't I know it," James groaned. "Love to stay and chat BoCo, I just don't want to miss my bus!"

James ran to the downstairs level, only to find that his bus had already gone.

"I'm never going to hear the end of it when I get home," he grumbled to himself. Then as he looked into the cafeteria, he noticed Rosie sitting at a table all by herself. James walked into the now empty cafeteria and sat down close to Rosie's spot.

"Hi there, I'm James. You must be Rosie, right?"

"That's correct," she said.

She looked up to James for a second, then she looked back down to her notebook again.

"What's wrong?" James asked.

"Nothing's wrong, except...well I don't know how I can ask Thomas to go out with me."

James was surprised, then he remembered the number of times he saw Rosie write, 'I love Thomas' in her notebooks, and he remembered seeing her give Thomas those notes. He knew from that moment that they were from Rosie and not Percy.

"Do you really like Thomas?"

"Yes," she answered sweetly, "I think he's super cute and sweet, I like him alot. Do you think I might have a chance to be with him?"

James was silent for a while, he wasn't sure how to respond to that. Finally though he broke the silence, " I'm not sure, I mean ever since she came here, Thomas has usually been spending time with Emily, so he might consider her to be his girlfriend."

"I'm not so sure, earlier he was saying that Emily was just his friend."

"Oh well in that case, I think you might have a chance," smiled James, getting up from his seat, "just build up your confidence a little bit, then ask him out."

"Yeah, I should do that. Thank you," smiled Rosie, "you really are a kind person James."

"Most people don't think so, they just say I can be quite vain from time to time. Still I'm glad to have helped, but now I need to get going. I need to find another way home since my bus just left. I'll see you later Rosie and good luck in asking Thomas out."

"Thanks!" she called.

James snickered quietly to himself, "if Thomas goes with Rosie, then that will mean that Emily will be all alone and that will be my chance to be her boyfriend. Am I ever a clever red head," but he thought it only to himself.

The next morning, Rosie decided it was finally time to ask Thomas out. She took in a few breaths and walked into the classroom.

"Hello Thomas," she said, "are you going to be busy this Saturday?"

"Not really," he answered with a shake of his head, "why do you ask?"

"Well I was just wondering if you would like to hang out with me on Saturday. I heard that the autumn festival will be on Saturday, so..."

"Sure, sounds like a good idea with me."

Emily had overheard this, "what about me?" she asked.

"You can come along too Emily," smiled Thomas, "and I know Percy will tag along with us. He always does every year."

That brought a smile to Emily's face. Rosie however was looking disappointed, "I guess we'll meet at Knapford station on Saturday."

"Okay Rosie," said Thomas, although he wasn't paying any attention. He was talking to Emily about the festival, and telling her of the past festivals.

Rosie walked sadly and quietly over to her desk. James whispered to her; "don't worry," he said, "all you need is a moment to be alone, then you can tell Thomas how you really feel about him."

"Thanks James," she whispered back.

"Now," James thought to himself, "it won't take that much to get Percy to leave, he always goes for the cotten candy and disappears for thirty minutes or so. I'll get my chance to be alone with Emily and tell her my feelings."

James chuckled quietly to himself, he was sure that his plan was going to work.

"ACHOO!" Well needless to say, it didn't. On the day of the autumn festival, James had come down with the flu and had to stay in bed. He grumbled like anything, "of all the rotten luck," he sniffled. "Oh well, at least Thomas isn't going to be hogging the two girls to himself."

Sadly Percy had also come down with the same flu.

"I'm sorry Thomas," he said weakily over the phone, "I won't be able to...ACHOO!...go to the festival tonight."

"You too? Oh geez, first I hear that James got the flu, then Emily and now you!"

"Emily is sick too?"

"Yeah she is, I...uh, I just got a call from her saying that she woke up with a terrible flu."

"Oh bother," said Percy, before he started to cough.

"Tell you what Percy, I can get you some cotten candy from the festival, then I'll come by later to drop them off."

"Thanks Thomas, you're a true blue friend."

"You're not just saying that because of my blue hair, are you?"

"Maybe," he said cheekily, right before he let out another big sneeze. Thomas had to hold the phone away from his ear, "sorry Thomas, I swear I have the loudest sneezes of anyone on Sodor."

"I'm sure Henry would disagree with you. Just get some rest and I'll see you later okay?"

"Okay...see you at school...whenever I get better." came the reply before Percy started coughing again.

"Botheration, that flu sounds nasty," Thomas thought to himself. "I sure am glad I didn't come down with anything."

Annie and Clarabel promised to look after Emily while Thomas went to the festival. She was disappointed, but he promised to take plenty of photos to show her later on. He got on the 4:15 commuter train to Knapford where he found Rosie waiting for him.

"Hey Thomas, uh where are Emily and Percy?" she asked.

"They both caught the flu, and so did James, I think they got it from Spencer's cooking. He may be good at alot of things, but cooking is not one of them." He pulled a face of disgust just thinking of Spencer's cooking. "Enough of that though, there's a festival calling our names, are you ready to go?"

Rosie smiled happily, "I'm ready," she nodded and walked happily alongside Thomas to the festival.

When they got there, they saw quite a lot of attractions. There were plenty of rides, small take out counters for food, counters with games, a place to look at arts & crafts, and a small area where there was to be a steam engine race.

"There's more here than there was last year," said Thomas, "poor Percy, Emily and James, they're missing out on a lot of fun."

Rosie however wasn't listening to Thomas, she was thinking to herself in an excited manner; "tonight is my chance to tell Thomas how I really feel about him. I hope I don't get tounge-tied."

"Hey Thomas!" cried a voice.

The two teens looked to their left and noticed a young teenage boy with orange hair and two big teeth sticking out running towards them.

"Hi Billy, what are you up to today?"

"I'm just here to have some fun, you know how I am."

"Oh I sure do," Thomas chuckled as he rolled his eyes. "I still remember the way you behaved when you first came to our school. Oh boy, were you ever troublesome."

"Hey, I was just over excited, that's all."

"Don't you mean really excited?" asked Rosie.

"Yeah," Billy's cheeks turned red, "I often say the wrong words when I'm talking to someone. So Thomas, are you going to introduce me to your girlfriend?"

"Girlfriend?!" Thomas was in shock.

"Well she is a girl and she is your friend, so...girl...friend."

Thomas sighed and slapped his forehead, while Rosie blushed a deep shade of red, "Thomas' girlfriend," she thought happily to herself.

"This is Rosie," said Thomas, "she's a new friend of mine and is also one of two girls in my classroom."

"Yeah I heard your classroom got two female students," chuckled Billy, "we got one too, her name is Molly, she's very pretty, but she is very shy. She hardly says a word."

"Are you talking about Molly again, brother?" asked another voice. This one belonged to a teenage boy who look almost like Billy, but had purple hair and a normal set of teeth, "I swear that is all you ever talk about."

"Hey I can't help it, I think she's quite cute. You'd do the same if you were in my shoes."

"Possibly," Charlie chuckled, then he turned his attention to Thomas and Rosie, "Good evening Thomas, I'm glad to see you hanging out with someone other than Percy. Don't tell me that you and Percy had another falling out."

"No of course not, he's got the flu."

Charlie smacked his forehead, "not another one. Quite a few students from our school has come down with the flu too," he said, "that's probably why Ben is lonely."

"Who is Ben?" Rosie asked. Billy pointed in another direction. Thomas and Rosie looked behind them to see a sad looking yellow haired teenage boy walk on past.

"Without his brother Bill, Ben doesn't know how to have fun."

"Well anyways, we better get going," said Charlie, "and..."

"Rosie, my name is Rosie."

"A pleasure to meet you Rosie, I hope you and Thomas will have a grand night out. Now come on brother, we're leaving."

Billy groaned loudly as Charlie dragged him away from the park.

Thomas and Rosie did quite a bit while they were at the festival. Rosie was hoping to at least tell Thomas how she really felt about him, but everytime she tried, Thomas would hurry off to check something else out.

"Does he only see me as a friend?" she asked herself, "no, that can't be true, I'm sure he likes me."

"Come on Rosie," called Thomas, "let's try this ride next!"

Rosie looked up to see a huge ride with over ten loops. A sick feeling came to her stomach

"Uh, do you mind if I stay here for a while?" she asked, "I don't like riding those kinds of rides, they have a tendacy to make me feel sick."

Rosie was thinking that Thomas would stay with her and try something different, but he didn't. Thomas ran towards it, and sat in the front seat of the first car.

"Do you mind if I ride with you?" asked another voice.

Thomas looked up to see a young teenage girl with golden yellow hair standing there.

"I don't mind at all," he smiled.

"Thanks, say aren't you Thomas, the famous high school student?"

"That would be me," he smiled happily, "and who would you be?"

"I'm Molly."

"Are you a new student in our high school?"

"Yep, I recently transfered here from the Mainland high school. My father got a job here selling comic books and any kind of cool stuff in relation to movies and comics."

"Maybe I should stop by your father's shop someday," smiled Thomas, "my best friend Percy and I are huge fans of comic series. What's your father's shop called, and where can we find it?"

Molly smiled, "it's not that hard to find, it's just down the street from the Knapford bus station, the store is called 'Comic Shop 3000'. My dad came up with the name, I know it sounds a little weird."

"I don't think it's weird, I think it's cool."

The ride started up and as it got underway, Rosie could see that Molly was riding along with Thomas, she was upset.

"Maybe I'm not good enough for him," she sighed deeply and walked away.

When the ride was over, Thomas climbed off and found that Rosie was nowhere to be seen. Then he noticed Hank walking along with a brown cowboy hat on.

"Hank!" he called, "have you seen Rosie anywhere?"

"I saw her walk past a short while ago. Uh, she's the one with short pink hair, right?"

"Yes, that would be her," Thomas nodded

"In that case, I saw her heading off to the hall of mirrors."

"Thanks Hank!"

Before the american teenager could say anymore, Thomas hurried off to find Rosie.

He soon reached the hall of mirrors, that's when he heard the sound of a girl crying and knew it had to be Rosie.

"ROSIE!" he shouted, "where are you?"

Rosie couldn't hear Thomas, she was crying so much that his voice was being drowned out.

"Rosie! Rosie!" Thomas shouted even louder as he ran threw the maze of mirrors. More than once, he ran into some of the mirrors, quite literally, "that's going to leave a mark," he muttered.

He continued running around, until he ran into Henry, again quite literally.

"What are you doing here Thomas?" he asked.

"I'm looking for Rosie, I know she's in here, I just can't find her."

"Rosie? Oh yeah, I saw her a little while ago, just follow the path straight ahead and take a left and you'll find her."

"Thanks Henry," Thomas got back to his feet and ran off.

"He must like that girl alot if he's looking for her," thought Henry to himself. "Now to find my own way out of here. Darn it, I should've asked Thomas for directions. Oh well," and he continued on his way.

Thomas continued running along, until at last he came to an open part of the maze where Rosie could seen crying her eyes out. She was sitting on her knees and she had both her hands covering her eyes.

"Rosie, I finally found you, I've been worried sick." But Rosie didn't reply back, she didn't even look up to Thomas. "Why did you run off like that?" he asked, "was it because of the ride? Cause if that was it, we can go anywhere else you want."

"Really?" she asked as she showed her tearsoaked face, "you don't mean it do you?"

"Of course I do, what's going on Rosie?"

"Well Thomas, all my life, I've been let down by other boys, who run off to hang out with 'normal' girls, just because they don't have freckles like I do. All I want is for one boy to come to me and say that they like me for who I am, instead of lying to my face and running off, like you did."

"Well Rosie, I'm sorry. I didn't think that this would upset you like that."

"Then why did you race off? To talk to that yellow haired girl?"

"I went on that ride because I love riding those kinds of rides and as for talking to Molly, she was telling me about a comic shop her father owns. You see, Percy and I are huge fans of comic books, and we buy a lot of comics to add to our collections, I was just asking her for directions and of what is in the store."

"Is that all?"

"Yeah, that's all."

A small smile came to her face, then she asked; "do you like me Thomas?"

Thomas blushed a deep shade of red, "uh, well..."

"I meant as a friend," she said at last. "I wanted you to go out with me tonight, so that I could get to know you a little more and you could get to know me."

"Oh well, in that case, yes I do like you," he smiled. "So do you want to hang out with me a little more?"

"Sure," she nodded.

As they walked out of the hall of mirrors, Rosie thought to herself, "maybe it's okay to be his friend for now, I don't want to go rushing into anything. That would be silly of me"

Then Rosie felt someone holding her hand, it was Thomas. He was carefully leading the way out.

"Maybe this can work out," she thought to herself.

At the end of the day, Rosie and Thomas went their seperate ways. Rosie felt a little happier knowing that she now had a friendship bond with Thomas and maybe someday, they would fall in love.

Thomas meanwhile had picked up four packages of cotton candy and was now making his way to the train station for a train ride home.

As for James, he might be sick, but he was still determined to become Emily's boyfriend as soon as he got rid if his cold before letting out a huge sneeze that nearly threw him out of his bed.
