Ryu's Immigration

A non-canon oneshot that describes an amazing backstory of Rick's common ancestors, on how his ancient family immigrated from their homeland, Japan, to the US during World War II, and gave birth to one of the best F-Zero racers around.

At the Falcon House, Rick was discussing of his heritage with Burt, Tinsel, and Clank. He said that he had 2 names, his current title, Rick Wheeler, as well as a Japanese one, Ryu Suzaku II! He explained that he was bestowed the Japanese name as he closely resembled his distant ancestor, Ryu Suzaku. He and his wife escaped from imperial Japan during their dominance over the Pacific, including the bombing of Pearl Harbor, back in 1945. They were getting weary over their conquest as well as oversexualization, including the age of consent which happens to be around 13 years!

The pair left and arrived at California, then were sent to a concentration camp till World War II was over. They then decided to head to Ellis Island and change their surname to Wheeler instead, while still retaining more tasteful traditions. For generations, Rick's family had finally anointed him as his living descendant. It was no question since he still embraces Japanese culture, including having an affinity for ramen; falling in love with another Oriental, Haruka, even though she was born in New York way back; and taking in some of the customs like meditation and martial arts.

Clank and Tinsel were glad to uncover more of his lost heritage, even though Tinsel never minded what her genealogy was.

Trivia[]

  • This was a non-canon oneshot Ikran came up with on a whim. It was soon after she saw the Nostalgia Critic's harsh criticism of Sailor Moon, and the fact that Japan has the age of consent of 13 years old as well as oversexualizing things! As a result, Rick's ancestors, the husband Ryu Suzaku, decided to move away to Ellis Island. Thus changing the surname to Wheeler, and bestowing Rick as Ryu Suzaku II!
  • This was a method to utilize both names and solving a pointless argument on which name Rick/Ryu should use! He's still the same guy regardless! Although Ikran loves the English dubbed name better, as she grew up with the FoxBox anime and the GBA game.
  • This took place in 1945, just before the bombing of Hiroshima, as imperial Japan attempts to dominate the Pacific and bombed Pearl Harbor.
  • Ryu does mean Dragon, as Suzaku is Vermillion Bird! Ryu Suzaku is so appropriate with his machine, the Dragon Bird, as they represent the Asian God of Summer.
