Sareena managed to enter the Lin Kuei temple, seeking asylum as she was defecting from the Netherrealm. Sub-Zero, Smoke and Frost stood before her, and the Grandmaster thought she was only a lost soul. However, she came to break the news of his brother, Bi-Han! She noticed a cryomancer amongst the Brotherhood of Shadow, and recognized him; several years ago, she encountered him and after a scrimmage he spared her. Later on, she assisted him against Quan Chi and were successful. She soon allied herself with Ashrah as protection against Quan, in fear on her being controlled by him; she noticed that as she saw Noob Saibot. She took her escape as Quan opened a portal and been on the hunt ever since. Because of Onaga's invasion, she had to hide, and she received word of the new Lin Kuei.

Kuai offered to help as he had the Dragon Medallion, thus being resistant in the Netherrealm and may best his brother in combat. Frost and Smoke went with him to Outworld and seeking the portal Quan escaped from. It was there where she recognized the ancient runes on awakening the Dragon King and his undead army; however, Sub-Zero was reluctant on having Frost and Smoke tag along. Instead, he enlisted them to stay and defend themselves if they should be in the midst of battle.

Sareena recognized the fifth plane of the Netherrealm, where Noob was reborn, as well as the ancient gears; Kuai mentioned of Smoke and his semi-conversion as a Lin Kuei cyborg utilizing both functions as a human and robot once Oniro's schemes were thwarted. Sure enough, Noob ambushed the duo and never let up on Sareena nor his lost brother; she warned Sub-Zero he was evil incarnate. They did their best fending him off, although his umbrakinesis and brute strength gave Noob the upper hand. That was until they were saved by the sudden scrimmage of Ashrah who recovered Sareena and Kuai and purify and decimate Noob's soul! With that holy deed, she and Kuai grabbed onto Ashrah's legs as she finally ascended thru a portal of light and into a grassy null in Earthrealm. Raiden was surprised to meet up with Ashrah though disgusted of Sareena; Kuai intervened that they can still ward off Onaga and his thugs in Outworld in which he agreed.

Sareena functioned as a close combatant with Frost and Kuai until they faced the corrupt Special Forces agents. Thankfully, the Chameleons came to their aide. By the time the war subsided, Sareena was escorted to the summit of the Sky Temple waiting for the Champions' recuperation. It took her a while to warm up to Sonya, Jax and Johnny, though she was glad the realms were saved, and Liu and Lao accomplished this.

Final Kombat[]

Sareena was hanging out with the new Goddess of Light, Ashrah. Raiden informed the women of the inevitable battle of Armageddon, a conflict that would determine the fate of the universe. She was mostly nervous on participating in it as she knew Quan Chi would be there for the sake of controlling her like he did several years ago. The women soon met up with Bi-Han, who was alone near the Shirai Ryu base and defeated by Kenshi. Sareena was more subtle and supportive than Ashrah's sarcasm and coaxed Sub-Zero that his brother and the Lin Kuei's seasoned warriors are waiting for them in the Edenian Palace.

At first, she was scared on dealing with Quan Chi, but the Edenians assured her that Cobalt armor was available to negate the Oni's spells. She was then confronted by him and had the disadvantage, until she was spared by Jax.

Having dealt with lethal opponents, she was wounded, even unconscious by Blaze's eruption in conjunction with Fire God Liu Kang's fire cocoon. She was revived by Cetrion's rainfall and Sareena assured the Lin Kuei that Bi-Han put aside his discrepancies for Hanzo. He offered to train himself with Sareena as his moral supporter at Delia's temple. They still functioned as allies to the Special Forces when they faced off against Kotal.
