Shang Tsung's Palace is located in the Realm of Outworld, first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
Overview[]
The sorcerer Shang Tsung's new fortress was recently built by Li Mei's people outside their village under threat of death. The centerpiece is an Asian-styled palace complete with a courtyard, a decadent dungeon and even a secret torture chamber. It is not only the base of operations for the Deadly Alliance, but also serves as the new location for housing the Dragon King's undefeatable army.
In return for help reviving the mummified warriors, Quan Chi used his sorcery to unlock the mystical vortex to The Heavens from the ancient stone structure that the palace was constructed around and thus gave his partner an endless supply of souls to sustain his youth and life force until it was completely destroyed along with the Deadly Alliance and the Soulnado when Raiden sacrificed himself to stop the newly reborn Dragon King, Onaga.
Theme song: Shang Tsung's Palace/Nethership (Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance)
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
The Palace was first seen as the Deadly Alliance kept enslaving the Sun Do civilians. They built upon the ruins containing the secret, volatile phenomenon known as the Soulnado. Shang summarized that by unlocking that storm with Quan's Amulet, a portal shall open into the Heavens, sacrificing an endless supply of fresh souls to forward their plan on reawakening the Dragon King and his undead army, even making the diabolical duo more powerful than ever. He also ordered the Onis to stay below the Palace, in Moloch's Lair, feeding them souls of weak civilians to satisfy their appetite and not turn against Quan. The blanch sorcerer grew weary of him leading the charge, and he sent the Red Dragons to scout the outer perimeter, in which the heroes were still alive. Quan continued to abuse the villagers, till Shang declared their plans are complete. Quan rallied up the Tarkatan armies, before the two evildoers got to work.
The Soulnado was conjured, nearly pulling in the hapless Sun Do villagers! Li Mei was saved as the final sacrifice to complete the mummified army, when the Alliance noticed Raiden and a wrathful Scorpion. Then, the Soulnado was being altered by the aerokinetics, Kung Lao and Fujin! The demons were outraged, as Hanzo was thrown into the vortex, while Bo' escorted the victims out and carried away Li Mei. The lardo then entered the Soulnado, as biding the wind benders time and away from the dead souls. Fujin and Lao were successful, before they met up with the Alliance.
A gruesome battle ensued, until Nightwolf utilized his soul-draining tactics, Liu's spirit empowered Lao, Kenshi finished off Quan, and the two monks conjoined on tearing Shang apart in the Tornado Brutality!! The F3 made a lasting, though minor, impact, and Johnny pointed out the hidden Nethership, the escort vessel taking the heroes back to Earthrealm!
Raiden and Fujin remained in the ruins, pondering what would become of Outworld. The dying Quan denounced the sorcerers had everything they needed to resurrect Onaga and his loyal, undead army! Fujin was infuriated of his wry words! Raiden pointed out the mummified remains as they became reanimated! Fujin decimated Quan, but the prophecy of Onaga's arrival was suddenly prophesized!
Mortal Kombat: The Return of the Dragon King[]
The Palace remained intact as Raiden and Fujin fought Onaga with everything they possessed! Thru a portal ripped by Sonya's gizmo, she, Jax, Johnny, Kung Lao, Kitana and Nightwolf rushed in! Lao took on the offensive first but became greatly wounded rather quickly! Liu Kang's fiery spirit shaped like his Dragon was just as futile, as were the other Kombatants. Raiden, in his weakened state, conjured with all his might as electricity was being absorbed! Fujin knew of the Godly explosion, and everyone was caught in the blast! The result was the Palace being completely obliterated along with the mummified undead army! All that was left rising from the debris and the ashes was Onaga himself picking up a golden amulet with an emerald epicenter before he roared his triumph and began his Konquest!
At the ruins, Ermac made his ambush onto Kenshi and Aiko. He put up a fight against both of them, almost as formidable as that battle against Kung Lao and Liu Kang in the Warrior Shrine. There was a standoff between Ermac's soul kinesis and Kenshi's telekinesis, until the former had a strong, free hand which incapacitated Aiko! By the time her delirium made her whistle a lulling song she knew, that stopped Ermac in his tracks! He hesitated, and by the time Kenshi sliced thru Kahn's thrall chaining him, he recalled Sindel and Kitana! He then regained his true identity as King Jerrod, and he offered to give Aiko and Kenshi a lift to the Edenian Palace!
