Snarf Osbert (or just "Snarf") is of the Snarf species and was Lion-O's nursemaid as a child (and as an adult much to Lion-O's chagrin). His nephew Snarfer calls him "Uncle Osbert."
Entrusted with the care of the young Lion-O, Snarf Osbert (known simply as “Snarf” to his fellow ThunderCats) often thinks of himself as the oldest member of the group. Although Snarf is an excessive worrier and something of a pessimist, his courage and loyalty is as evident as any full-sized ThunderCats, particularly when defending Lion-O.
Once when trapped in Mumm-Ra's pyramid he convinced the same Ancient Spirits of Evil to change him into Snarf-Ra, the Ever Living. Enhanced by their power, he was able to fly back to the Cat's Lair and defeat Mumm-Ra. After he sent Mumm-Ra packing, Snarf-Ra had Lion-O transform him back into his ordinary form via the Sword of Omens.

- When Ikran was 10-ish, she fantasized three squadrons to assist the ThunderCats; he had Spike from the Prehistoric Squad, TT from the Diddy Kong Racing Squad, and Toughy (a made-up Ankylosaur) from the Fast Bro Squad.
