Terra Branford, known as Tina in the Japanese version, is a playable character in Final Fantasy VI. Her name in menus before the player names her is ??????, and her "name" in dialogue is Girl.
Terra begins the game as a soldier for the Gestahlian Empire, who used her to further their experiments with Magitek due to her unique ability to innately use magic. After she is freed from the mind control of Kefka, Terra finds refuge in the Returners, a rebel group whose members convince her to ally with them for protection and to stop the Empire from conquering the world. While initially apprehensive about fighting and reluctant to use her powers, Terra comes to accept her true nature and fights alongside the Returners to bring about peace and create a better world for the future.
Though the story of Final Fantasy VI has an ensemble cast with no intended main character, Terra is the first character the player controls and is featured in the game's logo. In spin-off titles she is typically the primary representative for Final Fantasy VI and the foremost character of the game.
In Dissidia, Terra Branford is a hero fighting on the side of Cosmos in Dissidia Final Fantasy and is originally a warrior of Chaos in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy.
Representing Final Fantasy VI, she is a girl blessed, or cursed, with both the power of espers and magic. Terra's attacks are magical, but she can strike with both long- and short-range attacks. Terra was forced to serve Chaos against her will, but in the next cycle has forgotten these events and now fights on the side of Cosmos. Her nemesis, Kefka, taunts her about her forgotten past and attempts to sway her back to his services.

Dissidia Shadowgate[]
Terra helped defeat Chaos, the God of Discord, and they wound up at the Cornelia Isles. She asked the Warrior if there were more friends helping them with the cause, and it confessed there were. She questioned its sad look, though it wasn't just the mourn for Cosmos, but the fallen friends as well, including her close friend, Vaan. She became emotional before she received word from Cosmos that the Behemoth must be stopped before the gang headed to the woods outside Stormhaven. She noticed one of the jesters there, though he wasn't Kefka, and she reunited with the sky pirate! She and her friends were sent on a mission to head to Shadowgate and stop the warlock lord.
She traversed thru various obstacles/enemies, and was on constant healing duties, even casting Poisona to cure Luneth while being covered by acid from opening a casket. She also teamed up with the Onion Knight and Firion against a fierce dragon, though she was reluctant on using her powers. Firion urged her to do it, otherwise they won't survive its powerful breath! She then drew in and transformed into an Esper! She then unleashed all her fury onto the molten stream casting Blizzaga and pushing it back making the beast explode! She was so proud of herself, and she even remembered serving Kefka, even identifying what Espers were at what happened during the year-long war.
She assisted the gang at times, even failed against the Behemoth, till Firion finished matters. She even helped them escape from the crumbling keep as she was one of the Teleporters! She soon came to Mobliz with a group of orphaned children. It turned out she was alive thanks to her human side while escaping Kefka's Tower! And Cosmos actually granted her to keep her Esper abilities! She even came across Gau to teach him the ways of Magic!
Trivia[]
- Terra has been one of Ikran's favorite fighters in Dissidia along with Tidus, Cloud, Bartz and Zidane.
- Terra, specifically in her Esper form, was actually the mascot of Ikran's smaller, former channel on YouTube named The Fantasy Fanatic. It was short-lived, but it was around 2010 when Ikran first encountered YouTube, but it was shortly lost because of her stepmom's scrutiny as she was still into the Final Fantasy juggernaut at the time...
