The Hive was a major location in Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil film universe. It was a giant underground laboratory complex located half a mile beneath the urban sprawl of Raccoon City where the Umbrella Corporation carried out extensive research on the T-Virus, a deadly weaponized contagion capable of bringing the dead back to life, albeit zombified.

This accursed place was only mentioned in her hatefic, Man of Destiny. It was the location of Rick's first bounty-hunting mission as Young Capt. Falcon, as he received the mantle from the late Douglas Jay Falcon. The Falcon Flyer detected several bounties, but the T-Virus outbreak was the most serious, and since Rick never wanted Falcon's homeworld, Planet Nintae, to be contaminated by the infection, it was selected as honor rather than blind choice. He requested for the Mighty Gazelle to program a detonator, set off to explode within 1 hr. Jody discreetly planted a honing signal in his helmet before he left.
Even though it was underground, the schematics shown it to be around 50 stories! Rick took the Blue Falcon GT and noticed the power was out, allowing the deadly swarm to run amok. There were a few traps, even though it was said to be "isolated," as its security system, the Red Queen, never expected a bounty hunter! The first was what started the massive massacre, of the lifts falling fast to their demise; Rick received a hallucination as he nearly touched the switch! He then took the stairs and spotted another trap, a locked, skinny hallway in which fatal lasers were activated! With crackerjack thinking, he used his Glock, and fired against the blockade, as well as hitting the motherboard at the other side unlocking the exit! There were some swarms, and he never hesitated to fire at maximum settings, complete vaporization!
Eventually, he's eavesdropped on the Red Queen demanding a sacrifice for one of the crew who was infected, as one bite/scratch would spread the infection in a manner of minutes! Although, a traitor named Spence turned on the group and unleashing the virus for the sake of greed and letting the Umbrella Corp rule the universe starting at the space harbor and its trade routes!! Rick heard enough and knocked him into the flooded chamber, sinking like a stone. Alice, Rain, and Kaplan never expected a bounty hunter to show up, nor expect a newer version/faker as Falcon, according to Alice. Rick confessed he's his successor since he destroyed Dark Million. Alice heard the cure's on the train and they must hurry before the infection mutates, and when the bomb explodes with less than an hour, much to the trio's dismay. Rick doubted there is any, and he got caught unawares when his imitated Falcon Punch failed. They hurried out, but the Red Queen won't allow them to spread the word. So, she unleashed all her undead, even a Licker! There wasn't any power to the train, so Rick had to do the unthinkable!
Just as how he escaped from the stasis tube in Dark Star, he conjured all his hidden energy from him and the Reactor Might feeding their escape, and frying the enemies! They made it out with only a few moments to spare!! But, it was only to have Rick collapse. Dr. James Marcus and the corp. ambushed the survivors, but the Galactic Federation forced them to surrender! So, the Hive and the virus were destroyed off the face of the planet!!
