Tidus is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy X. He can be acquired as a Creature Creator ally in the International + Last Mission and HD versions Final Fantasy X-2 and plays a pivotal role in the extended universe audio drama and novella.
He is a rising star blitzball player from Zanarkand, and the son of major blitzball star Jecht. After the gargantuan monster known as Sin attacks his hometown, Tidus is transported to the world of Spira. Lost, confused, and seemingly out of place, Tidus meets a newly fledged summoner named Yuna, and her guardians. Yuna is to set out on a pilgrimage to put an end to Sin, and by joining Yuna on her pilgrimage, Tidus hopes he will find his way home. Tidus is upbeat and initially childish and naïve to the world of Spira. He is also selfless and will do what he believes is right, even if he doesn't think it through first. Throughout the pilgrimage, he matures and becomes more level-headed and grounded.
Tidus wields swords and shields in battle. His Sphere Grid path grants him Wht Magic concerned with time status effects, such as Haste and Slow, and also improves his Agility, Evasion, and Accuracy. His Celestial Weapon, the Caladbolg, deals more damage depending on how high his HP is. His Overdrive is Swordplay, dealing physical damage, which can be improved by correct player button timing, and he learns new Swordplay abilities by frequently using them. Tidus is one of three characters who can fight underwater, along with Wakka and Rikku, and can be used in blitzball matches.
Dissidia Shadowgate[]
Tidus was one of the warriors that defeated Chaos and wound up at the Cornelia Isles. He found out from the Warrior that several of their friends passed in the 12th cycle; he noticed one of them was Yuna. He was distraught of his loss, till he wound up at the forest beside Stormhaven Castle. He reunited with Yuna and several other warriors before he was enlisted with the final mission on infiltrating Shadowgate and prevent the Behemoth from rising. He was one of the promising warriors in the group, albeit a little cocky, even against the Banshee, the Wraith although he was entangled, and the Behemoth. Before the fight, Tidus retained his deeper memories including Yuna and her pilgrimage against Sin, much to her excitement! He regretted working for Chaos and being vengeful over Jecht, and he described that he'd never shut up inside his head telling him to destroy him! He remorsed that he'd end up at the Farplane or perhaps be nonexistent as the Fayth made him. He failed against the Behemoth, till Firion made things right.
He wound up underwater, and by the time he emerged, he saw a tropical island. A large airship descended, and Yuna came running out! She embraced him tightly, then he noticed Wakka's voice on them getting a room, and he knew he was in Besaid! This was where he wanted to be, as he told Yuna he was home! They raced each other to the beach and noticed Yuna was different.
Trivia[]
- Tidus' name is pronounced in 2 ways: either Tee-dus as in tedious, or Tide-us as in Titus. Since he's related to water, the best pronunciation would be the latter.
- His name also represents the sun as well.
