Tiptup the Turtle is a turtle character that appears in Diddy Kong Racing and most of the Banjo-Kazooie games. Despite Banjo and Conker being scrapped out of Diddy Kong Racing DS due to both series being owned by Microsoft, Tiptup was not.
This seems to confuse most fans, the likely explanation is that it's due to him not being a promotional character for Microsoft or the Xbox (unlike Banjo and Conker), another is him using his Diddy Kong Racing design rather than his drastically different design in the Banjo-Kazooie games, additionally Tiptup is only a supporting character rather than the main character of his own series like Banjo and Conker.
Nintendo and Rare/Microsoft could not be bothered to change the designs of Banjo and Conker, so they decided on a more simple solution; that being to replace the two with Tiny Kong and Dixie Kong respectively.
Games[]
Diddy Kong Racing/DS[]
Tiptup first appeared in Diddy Kong Racing as a playable character and one of the characters called by Timber to help him to stop the evil control of Wizpig. Tiptup's theme instrument in this game is a marimba. He, along with Pipsy have the same stats in the game and are known to be lightest characters in the game.
Tiptup returned in the Nintendo DS remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS as, once again, a playable character, but has a lighter sounding voice, starting rumors about that actually being Tiptup Jr. rather than Tiptup himself. Other than that, his characteristics remain the same.
Banjo-Kazooie[]
Tiptup reappears in Banjo-Kazooie in Bubblegloop Swamp inside of "Tanktup's Shell" with his own choir known as the "Tiptup Choir". The leader tells the little ones what to sing, and Banjo had to ground pound them the correct way to earn a Jiggy. Strangely, when the challenge is completed, the Tiptup Choir disappears.
Banjo-Tooie[]
Tiptup reappears in Banjo-Tooie where he can be found in Jolly Roger's Lagoon. He apparently is a tourist attraction in the lagoon in the Turtle View Cave. He does not have a choir in this game, but instead, he has a pink egg with his newborn baby inside of it. He hopes it is a boy as he says that he has nineteen daughters. Tiptup Jr. is having trouble getting out of the egg so Kazooie must use her Split-up Pads in the center of the town and hatch the egg, roll over Tiptup Jr. to earn a Jiggy.
Banjo-Pilot[]
Tiptup makes a cameo appearance in Banjo-Pilot where he can be found in Clanker's River.
Trivia[]
- When Ikran was just 10, she fantasized on 3 squads assisting the ThunderCats; Tiptup was mostly assigned with Tygra, and sometimes with Timber, in the Diddy Kong Racing Squad.
