The Titans are a race of primordial beings that predate the Elder Gods, other races and the Realms themselves but emerged after the One Being. They first appeared in Mortal Kombat 11 with the main antagonist Kronika stated to be one of the Titans.

The Titans are far superior to the Elder Gods in terms of power and influence. The existence of the Titans is known by few, such as Raiden and Shao Kahn, the latter believing them to be fictitious before encountering Kronika.

With the establishment of multiple timelines, it is revealed in Mortal Kombat 1 that every timeline features a character in the series that ascended to the status of a Titan, all at some point in time gaining control of The Hourglass.

Known Titans[]

  • Kronika
  • Liu Kang
  • Shang Tsung
  • Kung Lao
  • Raiden
  • Kitana
  • Havik

Trivia[]

  • The concept of the Titans comes from Greco/Roman mythology, in which the Titans are the older deities that preceded the Olympian Gods, being the children of the Primordial Gods Gaia/Terra and Uranos/Caelus.
  • While Kronika appears to be humanoid in appearance and size, the other Titans that appear in the Tower Endings are different.
    • The male Titan that appears in Scorpion's ending is a large, armored giant with a helmet that obscures most of his face.
    • A recurring Titan in both Sonya and Shang Tsung's ending is a colossal cephalopod-like monster with a red aura. Sonya says it's an "Omnideity" and from an unpronounceable realm. Given its sea creature-like appearance and status, it could be a reference to the Outer Gods from the Cthulhu Mythos.
    • A female Titan in Shang Tsung's ending is a giant, beautiful woman with a dark body that resembles the night sky, wearing a large crown.
    • A monstrous Titan that also appears in Shang Tsung's ending is a large grey three-eyed beast with a gaping mouth and spikes.

Final Kombat[]

It wasn't until this fic in which Kronika was mentioned by the weakened Shinnok; he became irate as he found out of the corruption involving his mother, the titaness of Time, and her mother's girl, Cetrion. Since she had the higher rank, the Elder Gods, even Cetrion, can only bend to her wills. Upon her enslavement, Shinnok snapped and waged war onto the heavens, with Raiden and others labeling him as the intruder and invader, even in Earthrealm. He recently had his memories restored, courtesy after his meltdown after absorbing positive energy from Liu's heart, leaving him greatly weakened and made a doppelganger. Cetrion was soon revived.

Kontentment[]

Caro brought up the story to Aiko of the showdown Fire God Liu Kang had against Kronika, Cetrion and her Revenants. He was able to triumph over them, though he accidentally shattered the Krown, resulting in Shang finding it, slaying Kronika after going before the other battle, and absorbed her soul. Thankfully, Liu was still strong and skilled enough, being more crafty than him in his schemes, and retrieved the Krown!

Koherence[]

Liu claimed he kept his godly status to Kung Lao as he wanted to restrain himself, letting himself and the realms live in peace unless if there should be a dire emergency. Although he had already divided some of his prowess onto Caro as the Hourglass's and Cheung's guardian and passed the torch as the Chosen One to Lao.
