This was a crossover fanfic created by TheIkranRider showcasing the VR Troopers and Mutant League Football! This was an idea she'd been thinking of since she was 9 years old, and she brought it to life between Halloween and Thanksgiving of 2018. This, of course, served as the closure for both series, providing 8 episodes to make a complete 100 for the Saban classic!
Episode 93 - The Backstory[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 1)
This was the origin story on how the VR Troopers encountered the Mutants, specifically Chita! One day as she was playing her favorite Genesis game, she was sucked into virtual reality, and wound up in the War Stadium! She met the War Slammers, and their coach, the General, along with some special members such as Razor Kidd, Snake, Blood Clot, and Mo and Spew Puke. They eventually assisted the heroic trio and vowed to draw out Grimlord and his forces across reality, even from their turfs. As Grimlord began his conquest, it was during the football season, and the Battlefield, home turf of the Galaxy Aces, was under attack! The damage was hefty, resulting in some to transform into superhumans, skeletons, and some dead, including Blood Clot's fallen coach, Ace Bricka. He barely escaped and came across the Road Warriors, and soon by The General.
He then wanted to avenge his fallen comrades, and thus this began their mission.
Episode 94 - The Virtual Reality War[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 2)
Like any episode in the VR Troopers, it highlighted one of Ryan's lessons learnt by his dad, Tyler; specifically, about humanity, one of his last sessions. It was something he'd never forget, and how it'll change the fate for everyone.
The trio and Chita brought back Galileo to Dr. Poindexter's lab and he was thrilled how it put an end to Grimlord's schemes. As Oraclon was absorbing its data, JB ordered Galileo to overload the computer's circuits by calculating the whole universe! It left the Dark Fortress inoperative, although Ryan doubted it'd be the last of him. Undoubtedly, it wasn't, as Grimlord was spotted he has recruited the Turbo Techies, led by Tran Shooter, which after hacking them, got the Fortress up and running again!
Soon enough, the Troopers got the call from the Mutants, and Prof. Hart and the General broke the news. The Fortress was last seen hovering over a distant plane from the Indigo Sector/Void Club, a large chunk of space rock known as Asteroid 66, home to the elusive team, the robots named the Turbo Techies. General theorized Grimlord may've gotten to them, and he sent his special team to investigate. JB hooked up Galileo and confirmed the location. Snake, Clot, the Pukes and Kidd were searching, but no signs excepting the skull looking at them from the goalpost. Then, it fired red lasers from its eyes, and the Mutants escaped to the Void Club! This was a sign that Grimlord abducted the Techies and is up to no good.
Moments later, Kidd declared by the General's orders that war has begun within virtual reality. Every team of the League got involved, and the General rallied his troops, as reckless as he was! The Troopers were on the case, but the professor advised them to leave it to the eggheads really quick, including him and Tyler Steele!
Episode 95 - Make Way for the Cheetah[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 3)
As the tech geeks were at work preparing for the war, the quartet decided to hang out at the park, while also having JB help Chita with difficult comprehension questions, which were banes to Ikran's existence as she was in grammar school, especially her reading classes. Although, some park attendants were disguised as Skugs and the trio fought them off while Chita and Jeb hid. They soon changed into Ultra Skugs and one happened to advance on her. She shooed it away, making it back into another Skug causing them to disintegrate! As did the others! This was the first time she was able to defend herself against Grimlord's foot soldiers.
Moments later, Professor Hart and Tyler invented a new VR armor for Chita! It was covered in spots and had a tail and shades like the same wild cat, plus some built-in features that were still experimental. The Battle Grid was invaded, and Ryan decided to train her there! As they disappeared, Tyler finally spilt the beans of Grimlord being as Karl Ziktor to Kaitlin and JB, after Galileo detected tension. It was thanks to Razor Kidd after he was wounded while finding out the secret as Ryan was busy facing Despera and Hydra-Bot. He was carried out by Blood Clot before Nebraska Smith noticed them. And as he recovered, he alerted the General of their main enemy. Then Tyler got intel from them both. He also apologized for not being there for Ryan like he should have 10 years ago.
Still, the duo was victorious thanks to Clot and Kidd. And Tyler advised the team he shall go into virtual reality by Chita's abilities to monitor the war effort. They did just that, and they came across other Mutants such as Scary Ice and other linebackers and kickers. He commanded them to wait and aim for their wired footballs to hit Air Stryker and Fighterbot from the thick canopy! He declared to Chita and the Mutants to use their super speed as a distraction, when they raced across the bridge and hid beneath more canopy, leaving them vulnerable! Meanwhile other kickers out in the open kicked their balls from atop a precipice. They disobeyed orders as they perished thanks to Grimstars and the airship!! General was infuriated by the error, costing them the war!
Chita, Scary Ice, and other Mutants were astounded to see Tyler so soon, only much to the Alien's trial by throwing a rock, it was a hologram created by Doom Master! He and the Vixens were on the attack, disabling the Mutants and abducting Chita!!
The Troopers at the Lab were shocked to see her still alive as she climbed out of a body of water; as Doom Master pushed her off a distant cliff, her setae were activated, enabling her to break the surface as she had trouble swimming! She re-emerged into reality and became very distraught. Ryan, against Tyler's words, emerged into virtual reality and ordered Chita to escort Tyler to safety. Thanks to her camouflage while Ryan fought off some of Grimlord's thugs, they emerged into reality, only to have the lab be bombarded by Col. Icebot and Gen. Ivar from the outside!!
Episode 96 - Hart Attack![]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 4)
Pun intended.
So, the Lab was under hefty assault, and it was falling apart rather quickly! Plus, there was no ways on escaping, except for one; Prof. Hart gave them their last piece of advice, to transform into Troopers and escape to virtual reality leaving their doomed mentor behind! Kaitlin utterly refused this, but everyone reluctantly agreed to leave the Lab before they should all be reduced to cinders! They did just that, and Kaitlin and JB confronted General Ivar with the Battle Tank and the Troopertron, while also it is wiping clean the skies of Grimlord's air forces. Ryan needed to escort Jeb, Tyler, Chita and Galileo back too! Although the father mentioned there isn't much of the Lab left; he did so anyway. They've only emerged about a mile away, and Tyler advised Chita to infiltrate Ziktor Industries, with some help. He assigned a couple Mutants, Gangrene and Bones Jackson volunteered, while they escort Galileo as if they're wearing costumes! Since it was close to the Halloween season, there was no better time!
They headed off as Tyler chased after Ryan, who stopped as he witnessed the lab in shambles. He sworn to avenge Hart's death, especially since Grimlord already tried, and failed, to kill him earlier as Karl discovered the board of Isis. Then, the Trooper merged into virtual reality against Tyler's better judgement. He came across Razor Kidd who was waiting for him in the Virtual Cave! They'd decided to team up and destroy Grimlord together!
Episode 97 - Infiltration[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 5)
Kaitlin and JB may have destroyed Ivar, but the war was still going, even Clot was amazed on their skills! But...inconveniently, the swarm of the undead were heading towards them!! JB knew since Snake and her clan still held a grudge against Kaitlin and her double, as the latter wreaked havoc thanks to a mirror the former picked up and created an evil copy of her! Snake volunteered to wipe out Kaitlin herself, but as memories flashed back in her head, she stopped. She quickly had a change of heart and ordered her legion to stand down, not wanting to reduce Kaitlin to the scrapyard! She wanted to shake on it. PSYCHE! She knew better than to handshake a zombie with a live Trooper! They accepted.
The quartet arrived at their destination, thanks to Galileo's GPS, and they hesitantly headed in. They were nervous of the dark, claustrophobic interior, even when they were riding a lift up to the topmost floor which they believed Karl was. Strangely, the knob was covered by a burning substance, nor was the door even locked! They stepped into the dark office, with large blinds covering the rearview windows, a huge tank housing an iguana, or chameleon? to which Jackson and Gangrene thought it was an alien. And finally, the source of Karl's power, the neon-glowing green Pyramid of Empowerment!! The alien decided to smash it since there were no wires and the like, but...he was excruciatingly shocked and thrown across the office! He broke some furniture, though the robot congratulated him with an "A for effort." This also attracted 3 women wearing black clothing and they all looked alike! They were Grimlord's secretaries, and they each turned into Skugs, and soon Ultra Skugs! The Mutants, the R2D2 lookalike and Chita gave everything they had! Even another one of her sporadic powers, a screech that irritated the Skugs ears and made them disoriented while slashing them with her claws and tripping them with her elongated tail! The three disappeared as they made contact and congratulated themselves!
Gangrene laid a couple of dynamite tubes next to the Pyramid, and JB contacted Chita! He needed Galileo to absorb and drain the energy into it, and soon release it in virtual reality. But his transmission was interrupted by gunfire! They waited as Galileo did its business.
Meanwhile, JB, Clot, Snake and Kaitlin were in the Skybase, and it was brutally assaulted by electricity from Col. Icebot's Air Castle! They had no choice but to evacuate and emerged in enemy territory! The defensive line of the Techies gained on them, while the offense took the reinforcements from the stronger teams. Despite their electrocution, the Techies were out of commission thanks to their teamwork, including Kaitlin's double much to Snake's dismay. Kaitlin also restored JB's power before they chased after Icebot!
Through some conveyor belts and a chamber constantly switching gravity, including Snake's nausea and vomit from a fresh duck, they pressed on to the center computer! Orbs rotated around Icebot's core, along with the intense gravity. Thanks to their switching between plastic and metal, courtesy of the General as Ryan faced Magnetbot, the Troopers advanced, while the Mutants were unlucky! JB shot the weak spot while the Kaitlins shot the orbs and the Castle destructed! They escaped onto a runway but can't summon the Skybase! They were stranded in the sky!!
Episode 98 - Nerves of Steele[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Part 6)
As they entered the Virtual Cavern, Ryan and Razor Kidd were ambushed by more of Grimlord's undead and exploding Mutant heads, the same ones they'd faced last time while was losing his powers! Kidd couldn't take the stress from before; he chanted, "Ryan never gives up, Ryan finds a way!" He cleared his head enough to order Ryan to go to his retro-form; it was risky, but it might minimize damage onto him. His Virtualizer kept flashing, though, as Kidd unleashed his Rumble Fumble onto them! Ryan transformed back, and the damage was minimal, just some minor damage. Kidd raved they can take on anything of Grimlord's tricks as he remembered Tyler's advice that the mind goes first, and they should strategize for tricks! He got electrocuted thanks to a trap by Trans Shooter, head of the Techies! It unleashed all its fury onto the duo, and Tyler advised Ryan to deactivate it. Sadly, Shooter set a self-destruct, they escaped, and Ryan can't call Tyler back! Because of Kidd's valiance, he decided to give him a go with his Blue Hawk! The Alien was ecstatic, and they went up to destroy the Dark Fortress--only to see the Air Castle collapse with the Troopers and Mutants inside!! They escaped and landed. JB decided to take the final fight to Doom Master with Clot, Kaitlin and Snake took on Despera and the Vixens.
Meanwhile, Kidd and his Aliens were losing as they fired onto the Dark Fortress; some energy shield was preventing any damage! Doom Master was having the advantage over JB and his inactive Laser Lance, and the Trooper fell. Clot came to his aide and activated the Lance, making the foot soldier extra crispy!! Kaitlin and her double were losing against Despera's lethal staff, and the latter took a blow for the former original. Ryan and Kaitlin witnessed her death, saying it was a good thing they convinced her to fight by their side. Ryan searched for Grimlord, only to be ambushed by the Vixens assassinating the Mutants. Luckily Snake and her legion bit them and caused them to decay! Snake immediately ran to the fray to Despera! And unleashed her rage, even a minor scratch! Despera laughed it off as nothing, but...her face began to lose vitality, as she churned into a zombie. Snake simply fired the staff, and she was gone!
Ryan atop of a cliff never falling again, was warped up when he found out the Techies captured Tyler!! He ran to the center chamber, only to find it empty and Tyler strapped to the back wall! He faced off with Grimlord, complete with his tail, his black floating throne, and lethal moves Ryan was too familiar with! Then, he unleashed a white substance similar to silk, only...Tyler warned it was the same material Amphibador used twice, and it began to affect his circuits reducing his vitality! Just as before, Ryan was hypnotized by the substance, and Grimlord kept persuading him to kill his dad, since he abandoned him as a kid for 10 years. He was about to stab him with the saber, till he had flashbacks of all the times he failed to save him! Even when he got his new powers after he rescued Tyler from the Virtual Cave. His past was real and Grimlord fired onto him! Then, Ryan lost his powers altogether, and Grimlord began to choke him!!
Galileo announced absorption was 100% complete, and Chita followed thru while she warped everyone to virtual reality. She saw the Dark Fortress and ordered the robot to fire upon it, disabling the shields!! They came back, Gangrene lit the TNT, the office exploded as they left with Juliet in tow, and there was a small bomb scare. Still, the guys escaped into the woods. Gangrene decided to release the reptile into the wild, though Jackson thought it'd be bad fauna. Then, there were some honks, coming from Tao's Great Wall Porsche, and Jeb was riding shotgun!! Without talking. So, the Mutants left and Chita rode to the dojo where JB was awaiting them alive and well without his powers.
Meanwhile, Karl lost his juice too, and he drew out his gun aiming it to Ryan offering to take the sacrifice. Then Razor Kidd fired the Blue Hawk busting thru the Fortress and hitting Karl, making him dead!! He did his signature tornado jig and screeched for the Steeles to escape!! Ryan, however, hesitated and threw out the Virtualizer while he dived thru a broken window! Kidd caught him, the Fortress exploded, and they were victorious!!
Episode 99 - Victory is at Hand[]
We Are VR Troopers! (Finale)
The Blue Hawk landed, and Ryan was still unconscious; Tyler advised Kidd to carry him thru the rip in the reality barrier, where he wound up in Cross World City, but someone was coming! He frantically pushed Ryan out, as he couldn't survive for long without his VR armor. There was a young woman who saw Ryan collapse onto the street; thankfully, she was close to her own interior Buddhist temple. Kidd explained it all to Tyler and he knew where the place was! Thanks to Kaitlin, they warped back to reality and reunited with JB, Galileo, Chita and Tao!
While the Troopers left, all the Superhumans and Skeletons began to regain their lost flesh and personalities upon Grimlord's demise! Both Snake and Blood Clot were aghast by how they looked, and they even warmed up to each other!
Meanwhile, Ryan slowly came to inside a lush, realistic bedchamber, with a woman introduced as Ling Yu was treating him. He thanked her for her help, and she advised him to rest more as he wasn't quite well yet. Hours later, Ryan was able to stand and walk with Ling as she shown him the rounds, including a cherry blossom tree and a koi pond; her parents were living in Japan, so they left Ling to care for their home away from home. He then found his "pendant" his dad gave him along with the advanced walkie-talkie after his friends dropped it off. He hoped the latter still worked, which it did. Thru it, he called to tell them he'll be coming home after about a week in recovery. The General was describing Chita that he's been fighting his inner demons, and he needed support from Ling, as he too knew what it was like dealing with PTSD, as well as stress inherited by Tyler. Also, JB read Ryan's brainwaves from Galileo as they were a bit sporadic.
About a week had passed and Ryan was his strong, cheerful self, showing Ling of Tao's Dojo! He actually confronted his former self in his older VR armor, even his lethal double Lightning Hands, saying that he's not alone and always a part of him. As they touched the mirror in his nightmare, he was finally healed! Everyone was excited to see him, and Tao was getting used to his new pet! As well as Jeb not talking since the Lab's destruction. JB and Kaitlin gave Ryan a pep talk; JB had his back if Ryan wanted to fall in love with Ling. He and Kaitlin shall remain close, and they'll be there for him if things don't work out. Even Tyler accepted Ryan's love for Ling as he used to feel the same ways he did with his mom. He must act what his heart tells him and love him the way Ling does to him.
Finally, he shown Ling his own Buddhist temple and reflected on Tyler's latest lesson...
"Humanity. It can always be our greatest virtue. We must never underestimate the power of the human spirit and what it can do, whether it'd be by blood, used through love, kindness, and social intelligence. It can be our most powerful weapon, or it could be our greatest curse. But it can always help to get us through, even during our darkest hours. My dad said that all our past experiences, even our turmoil, our actions, our morals and values, and our personal desires determines who we are. And I realized it can be used through anyone, no matter how old or how young. Or whether we'd be a subspecies such as a Mutant, a robot, a higher mind, or even man's best friend. We all have some degree of humanity inside us, it just depends on how we use it. It all comes from deep within, it pours from the mind, body, and soul. There was no doubt in my mind when Razor Kidd once uttered this,
"We. Are. VR.
"And that was one of the most treasured lessons I will never forget."
At long last, as the new Galaxy Aces, the Troopers, the Slammers, and the special team defeated the Toxic All-Pros and Manic All-Stars and won the long-awaited Mayhem Bowl!!
Finale - The Future is Now![]
We Are VR Troopers Marathon
15 years later...
Chita was all grown up and she just moved into an apartment complex suited for the handicapped. She just returned from her stay in Hill Valley, as she and her father left as he divorced from her strict mom. She went to Tao's Dojo which didn't look all too different, but...Tao was gone, and there was this middle-aged man in his place. The new owner of the Dojo recognized her; it was Ryan!!
They've had a lot of catching up to do, especially with some unexpected losses... Both Tao and Jeb passed on due to advanced age, and his brother was still the owner of the place, then passed on the ownership to Tyler! Ryan also married Ling 2 years after the day they first met, and they have 2 kids, Taylor and Suri! Ling was glad to see Chita again, even their hyper puppy, Jeb. Jr, an offspring from Jeb Snr. and Princess. Ryan also had a nightmare involving his son, as an apparition kept taking shape, even as Grimlord; together, they used their own VR abilities, and Taylor never inherited the fears/sins his elders did!
The dojo also expanded, allowing all kinds of martial arts, not just karate. And Taylor and Suri inherited their parents' traits, even wanting to be VR Troopers one day, Taylor specializes in karate while Suri liked Tae Kwon Do like her mom. Kaitlin and JB moved to LA as she achieved her dream as a journalist while JB was a valedictorian in the academy for technology! They also had kids, Jerome and Katie. And Tyler has rebuilt the Lab and ran it for more advanced VR technology! Also, Ryan kept Chita's Virtualizer and VR-VT as memos.
Several days later, the trio reunited in the new lab! Everyone was there, and Tyler assigned Chita as their leader for the kids. Taylor, Katie, and Jerome transformed, inheriting their parents' armor (albeit skinnier and smaller), along with their own Virtualizers! Tyler wished them luck, and they did their team salute, "We Are VR Troopers!!"

VR Trooper Math
Razor Kidd, Snake, Blood Clot, and one of the Pukes play Cat's in the Cradle at Tao's Dojo!
- The title was a homage to the rocking song used for Skug battles of the same name!
- Ikran came up with this crossover since she was a kid, but she hasn't put it together till around the Halloween/Thanksgiving season in 2018 after she noticed that the VR Troopers can still be watched freely!
- She came up with the idea involving Mutant League Football; an obscure idea, but it was her favorite Sega Genesis game at that time. Thus, having them be involved after the football episode, Field Goal!
- Her favorite team is the War Slammers, while the Aliens are her favorite species.
- In one point in the story, it was mentioned that Tyler went to Canada, Maine and Japan to attain advanced knowledge on virtual reality in order to stop Grimlord for good; it was implied he went to these places since they were references to ReBoot, Digimon, and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest (particularly involving Benton Quest and Questworld).
- Each species was assigned to each Trooper: for example, Ryan gets the wild cards, the Aliens led by Razor Kidd (quarterback of the Screaming Evils after he was dumped by the Psycho Slashers); JB gets the well-balance Superhumans run by Blood Clot (head of the Galaxy Aces and Road Warriors), Kaitlin recruited the Skeletons led by Snake (head of the Deathskin Razors); while Jeb had the remaining Trollz (led by the twins Mo and Spew Puke from the Terminator Trollz). Grimlord had his chance as he reprogrammed the Turbo Techies, while Prof. Hart hired the coaches, mostly the General of the War Slammers.
- Ikran's OC, Chita Comett, was a play on words. Originally, as a kid, she fantasized as Ryan being the Comet, much like the comic book she found, while her OC was Cheetah, as cheetahs are one of her favorite animals. The ideas were awkward yet still she stuck with the new name! As well as her VR powers too!
- The chapter name, Make Way for the Cheetah, was a homage to the oldie, the Cheater by Bob Kuban and the In-Men. There was another, Hart Attack, as it was a pun for a very...tragic loss, the death of the professor.
- Since she came up with the crossover around the Halloween season, this was the perfect setting; even when Chita "dressed up" along with Gangrene, Bones Jackson, and Galileo (as R2D2) as they infiltrated Karl Ziktor's base.
- The revelation of Karl Ziktor as Grimlord was made here, in contrast of the episode, Grimlord's Dark Secret, thanks to Razor Kidd!
- The dream sequence of Ryan and Taylor fighting back an apparition taking on the shape of Grimlord was inspired by that scene of Bruce Lee and HIS son from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story.
- Around the same time as she was into the VR Troopers, Ikran was also playing MLF and even Strider for the Sega Genesis. And she found the VR Troopers on Philly57, and she wasn't really into toku, not even the Power Rangers. Plus, they got canned cuz stock footage ran out.
- Ling and Yu mean Sound of Jade and Shining Brightly respectively each of Chinese origin. Taylor, Jerome, and Katie were names of the offspring of the Troopers from some disturbing oneshot on Fanfiction.net. Suri was a name based on Tom Cruise's daughter; almost looks like her too. And Ling Yu herself nearly is identical to Wenwen Han/Meiying, but more adult from the Karate Kid remake.
- Ikran planned to make a podfic marathon like she did with the F-Zero GX/Yugioh crossover, Falcon's Followers.
- There was a continuity error in which the Skybase was rebuilt by Tyler Steele after being destroyed, and soon was programmed into Troopertron; however, the Skybase and Troopertron were made as 2 separate things in the fic.
