Worriment of the Future was a oneshot/crossover involving F-Zero & Guardians of the Galaxy created by TheIkranRider. This was just a story with her jumbled ideas regarding the future of one of her favorite intergalactic bounty-hunters; she actually had these ideas for a good long while, and she wasn't sure how Guardians would mesh with F-Zero, until here! Besides, the Guardians didn't have their chance to shine since To Be Married and Loved.

The story begins in Mute City, where Rick, as Young Capt. Falcon, and Tinsel were searching for more members of the disbanded Bloody Chain. They suddenly got cornered by one of its gangbangers, but thanks to Rocket's quick thinking and cunning, he used his Laser Gun to incapacitate him and easily take him into custody to the Federation. The couple reunited with him and the rest of the team, and they soon boarded the advanced Milano.

While the cocky tactician was keeping an eye out on the criminal, Gamora was discussing with the couple in the top floor above the cockpit, mostly used to take in the scenery. She apologized for not being at their wedding like they were hoping for, due to their hefty missions. Though they were astonished on how much Groot has grown since last time they met. While they were catching up, even when Rocket boasted on having fun blasting all the crystal meth labs south of the border, Rick mentioned fireworks weren't the only reason to enjoy the 4th of July. Gamora then stated how she wound up in the 26th century from way back in 2018, when the Infinity War was taking place. She had herself sealed in the Soul Stone by Thanos, but then her imprisonment was shattered, and she wound up stranded in Berhert! She said she was suffering from amnesia, and even the Guardians wound up the same way; Peter was obsessed on finding her alive, which was implied, then the Benatar crash-landed on the same world from that singularity! They noticed they had gone forward in time for over five centuries, and eventually found Gamora, with Mantis restoring her memories as a talented pathokinetic.

She then went on how surprised she was that so much has changed, even numerous alien species became either extinct or endangered. Tinsel figured Port Town would be good for the Guardians since it's an advanced space harbor housing diverse life. Gamora said the Zen-Whoberis decreased in numbers, thanks to the warmongering Kree, and even THEY became extinct, much to Drax's delight. Others that drastically decreased included the Metroids, the Fayelons, and the Na'vi amongst others. She hopes that utilizing their DNA would repopulate the lost species, though some weren't successful like the Fayelons or even the protheans; she heard even Javik was the last of his kind and wanted revenge on the Reapers after he broke out of cryo-hibernation after five millenniums. The Na'vi were nearly extinct thanks to the greedy, usurping Earthlings while their world was dying due to losing resources and their machines run amok. The Fayelons, including five surviving members, had fallen once they used their combined metamorphoses to vanquish the Dark Deity after he found five keys to a door leading to their realms of light, fire, water, wind and earth where jewels and gem kinetics were forged; soon, their Divine Source perished as well as their worlds and culture. Though the Metroids were able to be cloned and reproduced, and Star-Lord wondered if using his sperm would do the same for Gamora and her kind. Tinsel wasn't sure if he'd be compatible to them; she and Rick failed to use the uterine replicator to help bear a kid without complications. She wished that their kind won't be as eerie and green like the Romulants.

Expanding human life wasn't an easy task, let alone dealing with Dark Million. They'd halted on developing other planets and galaxies by the 22nd century but tried again in the 23rd century thanks to the obsolete Nova Corp evolving into the more competent, diverse organization, Starfleet.

Rick actually volunteered to use his own sperm to repopulate lost indigenous species from Earth and Giant. Though Peter grew sour that he should realize hed be the father if successful. He said he wouldn't mind as long as it's for the greater good and he will never cheat on Tinsel. They then reminisced on all the people they lost, including Yondu, Falcon, Groot Snr., Lylla, Gamora's family, Drax's, Meredith Quill, and so on. Rick couldn't believe how much has changed and evolved since he got out of cold sleep. The couple chimed in they were hoping for the Guardians to find a home base in Port Town, at least an apartment complex suited enough for two, six at most. They never wanted the team to disband if they should separate. Rocket was assured by Tinsel that he can find someone of his kind, and he wished to visit the Lylat System someday to see all the anthropomorphic species. Groot wishes to visit Tortiz 3, specifically Green Plant, and thrive there with other flora colossi if possible.

With forests toggling his mind, Rick went on there were some Genomes living in the harbor's treehouse isles; they were created in Terra by Garland, as tools of war, but were a docile people. Back in 1800, two were imported to Gaia to accomplish their goal on being Angels of Death, Kuja did just that, but Zidane thrived there. After Kuja killed Garland, Terra was destroyed, though several specimens, including Zidane, escaped and lived on Gaia; they colonized other planets centuries later.

Drax wanted to settle down and start a family again with Mantis, and it can be a welcoming break for all.

Eventually, the Milano landed, and Peter and Rocket unloaded the gangbanger. It soon reached Rick and Tinsel's destination where the Falcon Flyer was. Before they bid farewell, they wished that the Guardians could settle in Port Town and hope to create a brighter future forged from their dark pasts.

Trivia[]

  • This story had many sci-fi references including Starfox Assault, Star Trek, Final Fantasy IX, Avatar, Mass Effect and the Fayelons Story.
    • This was kind of as an act of revenge as Fanfictiondreamer was/is a toxic bully to Ikran ever since they had their lethal fallout earlier in 2021; ever since she joined Reddit and got involved with the Fayelons, their friendship was forever strained. Ikran wanted to like the Fayelons and relate to them; however, she had hardships understanding Mass Effect, thus losing interest. Since she was never into the magical girl genre, as a tomboy thru and thru, she decided the best way was to have the Fayelons and their complex culture wiped out.
  • She wouldn't think it'd be possible for her to return to writing fanfics, due to the hardships throughout the year, and making countdowns since that FFD threshold. But it was thanks for the inspiration she found while re-watching the Telltale series and seeing Warlock Waluigi do an LP of Guardians of the Galaxy (2021). From those, she just jotted down her ideas into that oneshot as resolution for the Guardians and their new future, as she NEVER liked Infinity War/Endgame.
  • Forgotten in the fic, Ikran has also made another reference to FFIX of Zidane, Kuja, and the treehouse location, Cleyra, a portion of the Burmecian Kingdom and home to Zidane's old friend, Freya, and her kind.
  • Port Town has always been Ikran's favorite place in the F-Zero series, and since it has an advanced space harbor, she figured it'd be ideal for the Guardians, from finding members of their lost species, to hopefully expand to other places like the Lylat System and Green Plant; heck there's anthropomorphic species for Rocket and perhaps a lush forest with life for Groot. Though she never wanted the team to separate, just have a more promising legacy contrary to Infinity War and having Thor as a piece from a different puzzle that never fits.
