Yugi Motou (DF)

Yugi Motou

Yugi Motou is one of the few pre-existing Yu-Gi-Oh! characters to appear in Legendhiro's Yu-Gi-Oh! DF. This incarnation of Yugi is around three years older than in his last appearance in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist Anime, and he still holds the title King of Games. Yugi does not posses the Millennium Puzzle, or any other Millennium Items, as they have already been destroyed at this time. He is also no longer the host for the Pharaoh Atem's spirit.

Story

Yugi only appears in the fifth main story arch of Yu-Gi-Oh! DF; Kaiba Corp Invitational Tournament. He is one of the competitors in the second Kaiba Corporation Grand Championship tournament. Yugi makes it to the finals to duel DF main character John. Yugi is defeated, though the circumstances were less than ordinary.

Trivia

• This is one of the few versions of Yugi in any media to duel completely without the help of the Pharaoh.
• Yugi only loses his duel against John because of the conscious choice of his monsters. Because of this, John does not take the title King of Games, even though he does rise temporarily to World Champion status.
• Yugi has appeared again in a one-shot duel by the author as part of Epic Battles collection of short stories.
• According to the author, Yugi will duel again in the DF main cannon in the upcoming seventh book.
