Zero is Mega Man X's best friend and partner in the Maverick Hunters. Zero's past has remained a mystery, but after his constant nightmares of his creator, it is now rumored that the evil Dr Wily created Zero to eventually destroy X. Although this may be the truth, Zero is still fighting for justice and has never turned against X. Zero is also heavily involved in the Repliforce mystery, but he has fallen in love with the Colonel of Repliforce's sister Iris and is torn between his relationship with her and Colonel's refusal to cooperate.
Recessional of the Red Dragons[]

Zero, along with X, had their background stories on Trudy's tablet. Jet looked over the Reploids' profiles, taking her word that they can be essential to the upcoming Red Dragons War in Mars within 72 hours. After that, both Reploids saved him, Faye, and Trudy as the Bebop was being shot by Spike's Swordfish! Zero proved to be an exceptional dogfighter distracting the Zipcraft, before the trio evacuated and the Bebop blew into space dust!
On Earth, Zero followed the quartet to Pallet Town in Kanto where Mary lives. Soon her cousins shown up and each one volunteered for the war, then he offered them to stay at the Maverick Hunter HQ in Abel City. He and the Reploids were experts in crafting weapons/armor for the upcoming war, though he grew agitated as he found out that Radical Edward was showing up tomorrow, always hacking into the robots like mechanical playthings!
Eventually, the heroes took off to Mars after Edward analyzed the Red Dragons' base in Olympus Mons. Zero and X led the infantry and special forces thru Valles Marineris, even helping to disable the minefields with X and the electric rodents or combatting hordes of Red Dragons. Then he assisted on melting the gigantic ice slab before trekking up the mountain! By the time the Dragons invaded the group, he and a disguised Zoroark slipped thru the base! They found Julia's carcass which made Zero freeze and flash back to when he failed to save Iris during the Repliforce Wars. Her body was about to be incinerated, till Zero saved her! He also analyzed the chamber and found the black ritual Kim Yokushimo used to resurrect people, making them killing machines for the neo-Red Dragons! He discovered it's Vicious' blood who was O-! He sliced up the blood pipes and assisted Zoroark as the agents were bursting thru! The avalanche helped though they made a desperate escape to Victoria's Heavy Metal Queen truck! Unfortunately, she got severely punctuated by a large ice slab!! Zero drew Victoria's blood in a syringe he found, as she begged him to resurrect Julia.

He did just that and warned Julia she must wake up Spike, otherwise the thrall/nightmare would begin again. Fortunately, Spike was his normal self as Zero decided to stay in Mars, taking a break from being a Maverick Hunter and letting X be the leader. Zero was also chosen as a new bounty hunter aside from Julia! And Trudy was fascinated with the blue sky in Mars, as she declared with him, the sky's the limit!
A Trip in Paradise[]
Zero was also in that oneshot. He woke up inside his capsule, one of several things he relocated from Abel City to the new Tharsis base with Jet. He found himself alone as Jet was nowhere to be seen; he even failed to contact him, as did Faye. He met up with Spike, Julia, and Trudy at a refueling station and they discussed of the new zealot occult known as the Drifters; he did attain intel on the two bounty heads. Spike and Zero went inside the deserted supermarket finding an ancient overhead summarizing the planet, Empyrea, and how it brainwashed new followers. As the ladies were escaping, they found out that Jet and Faye were also brainwashed by Takeshi and Lyn! Zero then followed the trio to an abandoned barn where Spike found a pamphlet and recognizing Pluto's moon, Charon. They followed him there and thru the asteroid field, Zero's spaceship took more time since it was designed from Earth and NASA, contrary to the Swordfish and Hearthstone. He shown up late invading the facility and causing disarray! As Takeshi and Lyn were being captured by Andy via tractor beam, Zero and Spike were pissed on him taking their bounty! Zero then saved Spike as he was dangling from a precipice holding the flash drive of the Woolongs stolen by the duo!
He too found out from Faye that she and Jet were acting as pawns to the pair, putting Trudy in a berserker rage! Zero came to the conclusion of the idiom, her faith was shaking. Luckily Spike was successful on finding her near Laughing Bull's camp, before the oncoming dust storm hit.

- Fawful's Minion named him as his favorite Robot of all time, and Quarter Guy labeled him as his favorite Video Game Character.
- Zero was only able to perform necromancy one time, just to resurrect Julia upon Victoria's last request as she laid dying from being crushed by a massive ice slab! He deleted the corrupt procedure from the neo-Red Dragons afterwards.
