Zidane Tribal [ziˈdɑːn] is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy IX. He is a thief who works for the Tantalus Theater Troupe set to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, an event that escalates to a quest to protect the planet of Gaia.
Zidane is laid-back, casual, outgoing, and generally friendly to those around him. He is flirtatious with women, but develops feelings for Garnet specifically. When the situation calls for it, he can be more serious, particularly in the face of danger. Zidane cares for those around him, often offering them advice on life, and is selfless in his actions. He tries to conceal his insecurities and fight them alone.
Zidane's abilities are Steal and Skill, the former allowing him to steal items from enemies, and the latter providing unique abilities giving him various advantages in battle. Trance turns Skill into Dyne, granting him various powerful offensive physical attack abilities that cost MP. He wields daggers and thief swords and can equip light armor.
Zidane is a stark contrast to previous Final Fantasy protagonists, Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart, possessing little of the sullenness associated with them; he enjoys making new friends and is always on the lookout to help those in need.

Body of Dark, Heart of Light[]
Zidane challenged Cecil to prove himself as a Cosmos warrior, in Order's Sanctuary in which he needed to catch him. He easily outmaneuvered him, especially in the slippery terrain. He kept on mocking him till Warrior told him to stop.
Dissidia Shadowgate[]
Zidane was one of the warriors that defeated Chaos, then transported to Cornelia. He found out from the Warrior that some of his friends had been lost in the previous conflict. Then, he wound up at the woods outside Stormhaven. He reunited with several of his fallen friends, and his last mission was to infiltrate Shadowgate and prevent the Behemoth from being awakened by the dreaded warlock lord. Much like Laguna, he too was full of gusto. And very cocky.
One time, he was curious on a mysterious black book, thinking it'd be full of strategies to defeat the warlock. It was a trap as the floor gave away, till Prishe's Float ability saved them; he was indeed disappointed about losing it. After a while he decided to stick with Bartz and challenged him to a stupid contest as they made faces with the 3 mirrors. Zidane was then caught by an arm belonging to a monster that came thru the mirror and intergalactic portal till Squall saved him! Zidane also assisted them, Laguna and Vaan against a firedrake, but it was the sky pirate extinguishing the endless flames. Zidane was still goofing off, till the group finally got to the chamber before the warlock. He got his deeper memories back, even knowing Kuja was his brother, he wasn't alone as a Genome, and even remembered the "blue light." He fell against the Behemoth till Firion settled things, and he eventually returned to Planet Gaia.
He wound up inside a dark chamber, and Cosmos led him out as a light sphere. He emerged from the petrified Ilfa Tree as he tried to protect Kuja while it was collapsing. He then reunited with his old friends at the Tantalus Theatre Troupe and disguised himself during the musical, I Want to be Your Canary, at Alexandria. As soon as he took off the disguise as Marcus declaring to the Moon to find his love, it was clearly him, much to Garnet's ecstasy! They've reunited in their arms at last after several months!
Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
In the year 1800, he lived in Planet Terra, then was migrated to Planet Gaia. After discovering his true purpose and heritage, he defeated Garland and Kuja engineered Terra's destruction. He along with his race of Genomes evacuated and prospered in Gaia. Centuries later, the Genomes migrated to other worlds, including Planet Nintae, specifically Port Town inside the distant treehouse isles across the space harbor.

- Zidane was considered as one of Ikran's favorite fighters in Dissidia along with Tidus, Bartz, Cloud and Terra.
